Intermediate Rolls For Tension Leveller Roll Systems
The bridge between work rolls and back up rolls, carrying bending load across to the support side.
If the intermediate roll loses profile, the load path from work roll to back up roll changes and the roll gap geometry goes with it.
Intermediate Rolls We Supply
Produced in GCr15 for cost effective wear resistance and 9Cr2Mo where higher strength is needed.
Intermediate Roll in GCr15 and 9Cr2Mo
Induction hardened intermediate rolls, HRC 61-63 surface with 3-4 mm hardened layer.

Why Plants Source Intermediate Rolls From Ascon
Material and finish.
Two Material Options
GCr15 bearing steel for small to medium diameter cold rolling duty, 9Cr2Mo chromium molybdenum alloy where strength requirements are higher.
Induction Hardened To HRC 61-63
With a hardened layer 3-4 mm deep and GCr15 tempered to HB 270-300 before hardening.
Fine Surface Finish
Ra 0.2-0.4 micron, with optional hard chrome plating at 0.05-0.08 mm.
Application Scenarios
Lines that use them.
Cold Rolled Strip Levelling
Stretching and bending straightening of cold rolled sheet.
Galvanizing And Aluzinc Lines
Reference installations include 40 mm diameter by 2076 mm rolls at HRC 60-62.
Colour Coating Lines
In the finishing sections of painted steel sheet production.
Intermediate Rolls Buying Questions
GCr15 or 9Cr2Mo?
GCr15 is the cost effective choice for small and medium diameter cold rolling rolls. 9Cr2Mo is used where higher strength is required. Tell us diameter, line type and load and we recommend one.
What hardness do you achieve?
HRC 61-63 after induction hardening with a hardened layer 3-4 mm deep.
Is chrome plating available?
Yes, optional hard chrome at 0.05-0.08 mm with surface roughness held at Ra 0.2-0.4 micron.
Can you produce non standard sizes?
Yes, non standard customization is supported from a drawing or a measured sample.
Should intermediate rolls be replaced with the work rolls?
Not always, but they should be inspected at the same time. Worn intermediate rolls will shorten the life of a new work roll set.
What do you need to quote?
Roll drawing or sample, line type, strip width and material, and quantity per set.
Match Your Intermediate Rolls
Send the roll drawing or dimensions with your line data and we confirm material, hardness and price.
