Cut To Length and Slitting Lines
A cut to length or slitting line is judged on three things: whether the blank is flat, whether the length is right and whether the edges are clean. This solution covers all three plus the scrap handling behind them.
Where The Problems Start
Where these lines lose money.
- Blanks bowing after cutting because stress was never removed
- Length deviation creating scrap and rework
- Edge cracks breaking the strip in follow up processes
- Scrap handling stopping the trimming section
- Cut length deviation within 0.5 mm at up to 120 m/min
- Levelling that removes stress rather than hiding shape
- Trimmed edges from 0.15 mm strip up to 3.0 mm silicon steel
- Continuous edge scrap chopping into the waste box
From Enquiry To After Sales
Stages of a line project.
Product Programme
A line designed for one product struggles with a mixed order book. We configure around the full thickness, width and length range you actually run, including the small batches.
Levelling Configuration
Blank flatness is set by the leveler, not the shear. Roll count and diameters are chosen for your thinnest gauge and hardest material, with servo positioning for repeatability.
Cutting And Trimming
Stop and cut shearing caps line speed and edge defects break strip downstream. Fly shears cut at line speed while trimmers and circle shears remove edge cracks with servo width control.
Scrap Handling
The trimming section stops when scrap cannot be cleared. Double roller scrap choppers with independent drives per side are sized to the trimmed edge volume.
Automation And Handover
Operator dependent settings produce operator dependent results. Automatic feeding, cutting, sorting and stacking with settings recorded per product, plus personnel training at commissioning.

What accuracy can you hold on cut length?
Deviation within 0.5 mm using servo drives and precision measuring rollers, with dimensional accuracy maintained within 0.1 mm.
How fast can a length change be made?
Changing tools and setting a new length takes a few seconds, which is what makes small batch production practical.
How thin a strip can you trim?
Down to 0.15 mm with the circle shear configuration, and from 1.2 mm upward for hard grades such as HiB silicon steel.
Do we need a scrap chopper?
If the line trims edges, yes. Long ribbons of scrap jam the chute and stop the trimming section.
Can you supply a line section rather than a whole line?
Yes. Many customers add a leveller, a trimmer or a scrap chopper to an existing line rather than replacing it.
