The WK2000 sharpens straight knife cutters at any angle from minus 90 to plus 90 degrees, along a grinding length of 2000 mm. The blade is held on a 180 x 2000 mm magnetic table while the grinding head traverses at 0 to 20 metres per minute. A 200 x 110 x 100 mm wheel turns at 2800 rpm driven by a 4 kW head motor, on a machine weighing 1750 kg.
Who it is for: Paper and film converters, plastics recyclers and granulator operators, food processing plants, woodworking mills, and blade service companies handling long straight knives.
A full length guillotine or granulator knife is ground against one reference plane instead of being repositioned halfway.
Magnetic clamping holds a thin blade flat without the mechanical clamps that bow it out of shape.
Single bevel, double bevel and unusual edge angles are all ground by swinging the head.
Traverse speed is set to the blade material, so soft steels are not burned and hard ones are not rushed.
A 2000 mm knife has nowhere to sit on a 600 mm table. This machine was built around that length.
Magnetic clamping across the full length holds the blade flat instead of pulling it into the shape you are trying to grind out.
Setting the head angle and traverse speed makes each regrind repeat the last one.
