New tooling to your design, cut in our own mould room

ODM is for buyers who need something that does not exist yet. We have run a dedicated design team since 2010 and build our own moulds in house, so a new part goes from drawing to first shot without waiting on an outside tool shop.

The problem

Why Buyers Come To Us For This

Sourcing a genuinely new tool usually means coordinating a designer, a mould maker and an assembler who have never worked together, and absorbing the delay every time one blames another. Design, mould making, injection, stamping and assembly all sit in one building here, which is why a tooling change is a scheduling decision rather than a negotiation.

The process

How It Works Step By Step

Define The Problem, Not The Part

Tell us the job the tool has to do: the pack format, the product viscosity, the force needed, the market price point. A specification written as a problem gets a better answer than a specification written as a drawing.

Design Review

Our design team works through structure, material and moulding feasibility together, because a part that is elegant on screen and impossible to eject is not a design. Material selection, structure and moulding are all reviewed at once.

Mould Making In House

Moulds are designed and cut in our own mould room. Continuous innovation on tooling is what the design team exists for, and production can be scheduled on call rather than queued behind another customer's tool.

First Shots And Function Test

Parts off the new tool are assembled and function tested. Our own patented models were developed this way and tested at 0 C and minus 25 C before release, which is the level of validation a structural tool should get.

Tooling Refinement

First shots almost never pass everything. Adjustments happen in our own mould room, so a correction is days rather than a round trip to a subcontractor.

Pilot Run And Handover

A pilot quantity is produced, inspected and packed in your final format. From that point the tool is in the production schedule like any other model.

FAQ

ODM Product Development Questions

What manufacturing do you actually do in house?

Injection moulding with five horizontal and three vertical machines, running up to 10,000 mould open-and-close cycles per day; stamping with 15 automatic punching machines, 9 automatic lathes and 3 welding machines; plus our own mould room. Die-casting and injection workshops were added in 2010.

Who owns the tooling on an ODM project?

That is agreed before the mould is cut, not after. Tooling ownership, cost and where the tool is stored should all be written down at the start, and we would rather have that conversation early.

How long does new tooling take?

Tooling lead time is not published on our old materials because it depends entirely on part complexity. Send us the application and we will give you a schedule with the quotation.

Can you improve an existing design rather than start from scratch?

Often that is the better project. Several models in our range are documented upgrades of the previous model: JS8605 from JS8604, JS8606 from JS8605, JS8602 from JS8601. The same approach applies to your design.

Do you hold patents of your own?

Five utility model patents and one invention patent. Two utility model numbers are published: 202321498230.6 and 202321512117.9, both covering the self-locking mortise and tenon structure.

Will my design be offered to other buyers?

Ask for that in writing as part of the tooling agreement. It is a reasonable thing to want and a reasonable thing to agree, and it should be settled before the tool exists.
