A Private Label Caulking Gun Specification Checklist

Everything a factory needs from you before an own-brand run, in the order it gets asked, so the quotation comes back once rather than four times.

Most private label projects lose two or three weeks to the same thing: information arriving one piece at a time. This checklist is the order we actually need it in. Work through it once and a quotation comes back complete.

One: The Range, Not The Product

Decide the shape of the range before you pick models. Three to five models per family is normal, because it gives a shelf a good, better, best without becoming a catalogue nobody reads. The tiers should differ mechanically, not just cosmetically, or your customer will always buy the cheapest.

Which product families: cartridge guns, sausage guns, foam guns, suction cups, grout guns
How many tiers per family, and what price point each tier targets
Which specific models, chosen against push force and maximum tolerance
Whether you want a patented model at the top of the range for differentiation

Two: Colour

Colour is a finishing choice, not a tooling choice, so it is cheap to get right and cheap to get wrong. Anodised aluminium is available in more than ten colours with an optional frosted texture; painted barrels in up to ten colours with custom patterns; handle and trigger colours are set on the paint line.

Each colour counts separately toward that model's minimum order quantity. Four colours of one model means four times the minimum, so plan the palette against the volume you actually have.

Three: The Logo And How It Is Applied

A common combination is engraving on the barrel, where the mark is handled daily, and screen printing on the tag, where the artwork needs colour. Send vector artwork and mark the exact placement on a photo of the product.

Four: Packing Format

Packing depends on your channel, and a single production order can serve more than one. Available formats are single pack, double pack, inner foam pouch, and blister pack with accessories, plus moulded carry cases on the powered guns.

Retail shelf: blister or printed inner box with accessories
Trade counter: poly bag or plain inner box in a printed master carton
Contractor bulk: master carton only, highest pieces per carton
Powered tools: carry case, which also protects batteries in transit

Five: Accessories

Nozzles, rubber scrapers, jointing tools, spare parts, batteries and chargers can all be bundled. Decide this before the carton is designed, because accessories change the carton size and therefore your container loading.

Six: Quantities And Approvals

Quantity per model per colour, so minimums can be confirmed honestly
Barcode and market labelling requirements, with artwork
Any certification your market requires, raised now rather than at shipment
Who approves the pre-production sample, and how long they need
Whether you want exclusivity in your market, which is a commercial conversation

Minimum order quantity is per model: mostly 2,000 pieces for a customised version, 1,000 on some models, and 500 on the JS8615 battery guns.

Seven: Approve A Real Sample

A pre-production sample in final colours with final logo and final packing is the last point at which changes are free. Look at it properly: mark placement, colour under shop lighting, trigger feel, and whether the carton actually stacks. Then approve in writing, and the specification is held for every reorder.
