A pin plate is the part that actually holds the fabric. Pins about 5 mm long sit in two rows at 3 to 4 pins per cm along the base plate, thicker at the root so the cloth never touches the hot plate directly. The press wheel pushes the selvedge onto the pins, the plate sits in its holder and the holder rides on the chain. Get that assembly right and the fabric holds width at up to 100 m/min. Get it wrong and the edge lets go in the chamber.

How long are stenter pins?
About 5 mm proud of the base plate, in two rows at 3 to 4 pins per cm. The pins are thicker near the root so the fabric never contacts the hot base plate.
Will pin plates mark my fabric?
Pin stenters leave pinholes in the selvedge. Most mills accept that because the selvedge is trimmed. If the selvedge stays in the finished goods, use a clip rail.
How do I order the right plate?
Measure hole to hole and the plate length on the plate you are removing, and send us a photo with a ruler across the fixing holes.
Can you re-pin my existing plates?
Send us the plates and a pin sample and we will quote the work. We also sell loose pins for workshops that re-pin in house.
