Size and colour are customized, and the minimum order is deliberately low so a single machine trial does not need a production run.

Comparison With Other Ceramics
Alumina rods cost less and are harder, but a slender alumina rod breaks easily. Zirconia is the choice whenever the rod is long relative to its diameter or has to survive handling, since it is the tougher body.
