Steatite Ceramic Parts
Steatite Ceramic Beads Bushings and Fish Spine Insulators
Talc based insulators for element supports and terminal work
Steatite is made from mineral talc, 3MgO 4SiO2 H2O, blended with clay and BaTiO3, ground, formed and sintered at high temperature. The result is the standard body for electrical insulating parts: high volume resistivity that holds up when the part gets hot, low dielectric loss, and enough mechanical strength to support a heating element. Beads, bushings and fish spine insulators are pressed to your size.
Key Benefits
- High volume resistivity that is retained at elevated temperature, not only when cold
- Low dielectric loss factor, so the insulator does not heat itself
- Excellent dielectric strength for standoff and terminal duty
- Fish spine and bead forms allow a flexible insulated run along a heating element
- Dry pressed or hot pressed to your dimensions
Problems It Solves
- Insulators losing resistivity once the assembly reaches working temperature
- Rigid insulating tubes that cannot follow a coiled or bent element
- Plastic bushings failing where they sit close to a heat source
Who It Is For
- Heating element manufacturers needing bead strings to a defined pitch
- Electrical equipment builders replacing failing polymer insulation
- Lighting and appliance makers sourcing standoffs and bases
Application Scenarios
Supports for heating elements
Insulating washers and bushings
Stand-off insulators on electrical assemblies
Lighting insulators, supports, bases and spacers

Certifications
No third party certification documents are published for this product. Every shipment is inspected to your drawing with an inspection report issued. Certification status is TBC and confirmed on request.
Customization Options
- Bead, bush or fish spine geometry to your dimensions
- Bore sized to the element or conductor it carries
- Quantity and packing arranged for automated assembly feeding
Comparison With Other Ceramics
Steatite is the cost effective insulator where the duty is electrical and the temperature is moderate. Move to alumina when the part also has to take wear or run above the steatite range, and to metallized alumina when the ceramic has to be brazed to metal.
Use Guide
- Give the conductor diameter so the bore clearance is set correctly
- State the pitch and bead count if the beads are strung along an element
- Do not rely on the bead alone for mechanical support of a heavy element

Steatite Ceramic Beads and Bushings FAQ
What shapes can you press?
Bush, bead and fish spine forms, or a custom shape from your drawing.
What is steatite made from?
Mineral talc, 3MgO 4SiO2 H2O, as the main raw material with appropriate additions of clay and BaTiO3, mixed, ground, formed and sintered at high temperature.
Is the insulation still good when hot?
Yes. High volume resistivity at elevated temperature is one of the reasons steatite is used for element supports.
What is the minimum order quantity?
It depends on the size and tooling. Send the drawing with the annual quantity and we confirm the minimum with the quotation.
Do you offer OEM?
Yes. Our main business is OEM and ODM. Please show us your drawing.
How are the parts packed?
Standard packaging protocols are followed and photographic documentation of packing and shipping is provided for your reference.
