Application Note Ceramic Strips in Flexible Pad Heaters
This note sets out how one to eight hole ceramic strips are selected for flexible ceramic pad heater assemblies. It is written from our product data rather than from a named customer project.
The Engineering Challenge
A pad heater has to bend around the workpiece while carrying a resistance element at temperatures that destroy metal sheathing. The insulating carrier has to do three things at once: follow the curve, hold the element, and keep insulating when hot.
Pain Points This Addresses
- Metal heating elements oxidising and failing before the equipment does
- Rigid carriers that cannot follow a curved or irregular workpiece
- Short heater life driving repeated replacement on production equipment
The Specification We Propose
Ceramic heating strips are sintered from high performance ceramic and normally combined with a resistance heating layer. They operate stably between 1000 and 1800 degrees C with a maximum working temperature of 1650 degrees C, and the one to eight hole geometry lets a single part family cover 30 V, 60 V and 80 V pad designs.
How the Part Is Made
- Confirm the pad voltage at 30 V, 60 V or 80 V
- Select the hole count from one to eight and set the pitch
- Set the strip length and cross section for the pad layout
- Check hole pitch and strip dimensions against the drawing
Quality Control
Hole pitch and strip dimensions are verified against the drawing, insulation condition is checked before packing, and an inspection report is issued on request.
What You End Up With
The output is a strip specification matched to the pad voltage and the workpiece curvature, with better corrosion resistance and a longer service life than a traditional metal heating element.
