Hexagonal Wire Netting
Eleven mesh sizes with the minimum zinc coating and the tolerance standard published against each one.
Three gabion formats, each with its own published size table, for bank protection that has to flex instead of crack.

Gabion boxes are wire containers made of hexagonal wire netting, filled with stone on site to form flexible retaining and protection structures.
Anwang supplies three formats: the standard gabion box, the cylindrical sack gabion for river training and emergency works, and the Reno mattress for bank protection and channel lining.
Sack gabions are made to ASTM A 975 and EN 10223, and Reno mattress physical and mechanical properties meet or exceed ASTM A975-97.
Rigid concrete walls crack when the ground settles. A gabion deflects and keeps its structural integrity.
A solid wall traps water behind it. Stone fill lets water seep through while retaining the soil, so no additional drainage is needed to relieve hydrostatic pressure.
Emergency river works cannot wait for formwork. Sack gabions are filled on site and launched, including under water.
Hexagonal gabions bulge when filled. Top welded wire gabions hold their shape and install in as much as 40% less time.

Hexagonal wire netting in plain or PVC coated wire. For uncoated netting the wire diameter runs from 2.0 mm to 4.0 mm; for PVC coated netting the outside diameter runs from 3.0 mm to 4.0 mm. The wire used in sack gabions is heavily zinc coated soft temper steel. Reno mattresses are available with different levels of coating protection, and an additional polymer protective coating can be applied over the base coating where the environment is more aggressive.
Mesh opening, wire diameter and selvedge wire gauge are the three dimensions that decide whether a gabion survives its design life. Reno mattress sizes are nominal, with tolerances of 3% of width and length and 2.5 cm of height permitted. Physical and mechanical properties of the Reno mattresses meet or exceed the requirements of ASTM A975-97.
Hexagonal double twisted wire mesh woven in the ordered opening.
All mesh panel edges are selvedged with a wire of greater diameter.
Panels are assembled into boxes, sacks or mattress bases with internal diaphragms.
Sack gabions receive reinforcing wires during manufacture to help close them on site.
Units are folded flat and bundled, which cuts transport freight.
| Product | Where It Fits |
|---|---|
| Hexagonal gabion box | Flexible; conforms to settlement; bulges slightly when filled |
| Top welded wire gabion | Holds its shape better, does not bulge, installs in up to 40% less time |
| Reno mattress | Thin and wide; for bank lining and scour protection rather than retaining height |
| Sack gabion | Cylindrical; filled and launched on site, including under water; for emergency works |

Eleven mesh sizes with the minimum zinc coating and the tolerance standard published against each one.

Two galvanizing routes, two gauge ranges, and a zinc coating figure you can actually specify against.

Rigid panel fencing that arrives straight, lines up on a 2440 mm post grid and stays rust-free after installation.

Six: 60x80, 80x100, 80x120, 100x120, 100x150 and 120x150 mm, each with its own wire diameter range from 2.0 mm up to 4.0 mm.
A box retains height. A Reno mattress is a thin, wide structure made of hexagonal double twisted wire mesh, filled with stone on site to line river banks and channels for erosion control and embankment stability.
River training and emergency works. Sack gabions are cylindrical, filled with stone at the site, and supplied with reinforcing wires inserted during manufacture to make closing them easier during installation.
Sack gabions are made from double twisted steel woven wire mesh panel according to ASTM A 975 and EN 10223. Reno mattress physical and mechanical properties meet or exceed ASTM A975-97.
No. The stone fill allows water to seep through the structure while retaining the soil, so no additional drainage is required to relieve hydrostatic pressures.
Folded flat. Less transport freight is one of the stated features - they are folded together for transport and opened for installation.
