Razor Wire Blade Types From BTO-10 to CBT-65 Explained
Eight blade specifications, two families, and one table that turns metres of perimeter into coils to order.
The two families
BTO blades are the short ones: 0.5 mm thick, blade length from 10 mm on BTO-10 up to 30 mm on BTO-30, with blade spacing of 26 to 45 mm. CBT blades are the long ones: 0.6 mm thick, 60 mm on CBT-60 and 65 mm on CBT-65, with 100 mm blade spacing. Every type runs on a 2.5 mm core wire.
What blade length actually buys you
Visible deterrence. A CBT-65 coil reads as a serious barrier from a distance, which is why it appears on prisons and secure sites. A BTO-18 or BTO-22 topping on a panel fence does its job at close range and costs less.
Coil geometry decides quantity
Coils are published by external diameter, number of turns and standard covering length. A 450 mm CBT-65 single coil has 33 turns and covers 8 m. A 500 mm has 41 turns and covers 10 m. A 960 mm has 53 turns and covers 13 m. Cross type coils in BTO-12, 18 or 22 carry many more turns - 102 turns on a 500 mm coil - and cover 16 m down to 9 m as diameter increases.
Single coil or cross type
Single coil is the simpler concertina, made in CBT-65 in the published table. Cross type is clipped so the blades cross, which increases density at the same diameter - and reduces covering length per coil, because more turns are packed into the same run.
Choosing the finish
Electro galvanized for dry inland sites, hot dipped galvanized for exposed perimeters, stainless steel where coastal salt or chemical exposure would eat a zinc coating. All three are offered.
Ordering without a mistake
Give the perimeter length, the blade type and the coil diameter. Convert to coils with the covering length column rather than ordering by weight, which tells you nothing about how far the product will reach.

What is the difference between BTO and CBT?
Blade thickness and length. BTO is 0.5 mm thick with 10-30 mm blades; CBT is 0.6 mm thick with 60-65 mm blades and 100 mm spacing.
How many coils do I need for 100 m of perimeter?
With 500 mm CBT-65 single coils covering 10 m each, ten coils. Always check against the covering length column for the type and diameter you are ordering.
What core wire is used?
2.5 mm on every published blade type.
