What Razor Barbed Wire Is and Who Buys It
Razor barbed wire is a steel tape punched into blades and clinched around a core wire. Anwang supplies it in electro galvanized, hot dipped galvanized and stainless steel.
It can be installed as flat barbed tape wire or as a concertina coil fixed to a wall or an existing fence.
Eight blade specifications are held, from the short BTO-10 blade to the long CBT-65, with coil diameters from 450 mm to 960 mm.

Blade length and spacing are what actually decide how the wire behaves - and most suppliers will not publish them.

Materials
Material Options
The blade is punched from steel tape and clinched onto a 2.5 mm core wire. Electro galvanizing is the economy finish for dry inland sites. Hot dipped galvanizing carries a heavier zinc layer for exposed perimeters. Stainless steel is specified where coastal salt or chemical exposure would eat a zinc coating.
Quality Control
Blade length, blade width, blade spacing, core wire diameter and coil turn count are the dimensions that define the product; all of them are published in the tables on this page. Check the blade specification stamped on the delivery against the order - BTO-22 and BTO-28 look similar in a photograph and behave differently on a fence.

How Razor Barbed Wire Is Made
Tape punching
Steel tape is punched to the ordered blade profile - BTO or CBT.
Core wire clinching
The punched tape is clinched around a 2.5 mm core wire.
Coiling
For concertina, the tape wire is formed to the ordered external diameter and turn count.
Clipping
Cross type coils are clipped so the concertina opens to its covering length.
Packing
Coils are compressed, tied and palletised or bagged.

Use Guide
- Pick the blade first: short BTO blades for general perimeter, long CBT-60 and CBT-65 blades where deterrence has to be visible from a distance.
- Use the coil table to convert perimeter metres into coils - a 500 mm CBT-65 single coil covers 10 m.
- Cross type coils cover less per coil at the same diameter because they carry more turns.
- Specify hot dipped galvanized or stainless within a few kilometres of the sea.
- Always handle with cut-resistant gloves, and keep the coil tied until it is fixed at one end.

What is the difference between BTO and CBT blades?
BTO blades are 0.5 mm thick and 10-30 mm long. CBT blades are 0.6 mm thick and much longer - 60 mm on CBT-60 and 65 mm on CBT-65 - with 100 mm blade spacing.
How many metres does one coil cover?
It depends on diameter and type. A 450 mm CBT-65 single coil covers 8 m, a 500 mm covers 10 m and a 960 mm covers 13 m. Cross type coils in BTO-12, 18 or 22 cover 9-16 m depending on diameter.
What core wire do you use?
2.5 mm on every blade type listed, with the stated tolerance.
Can I get it in stainless steel?
Yes. The three listed materials are electro galvanized, hot dipped galvanized and stainless steel.
Can it be fitted to an existing wall?
Yes - it can be installed as barbed tape wire or as a concertina coil to walls or fencing.
Do you supply the fence as well as the topping?
Yes. Welded mesh fence panels and chain link fence are made in the same plant, so the perimeter and its topping ship together.
