What open area can perforated metal give?
From 15% on the R0.8 T2 pattern up to 46% on R2.5 T3.5. All fifteen patterns are published with hole size, pitch and open area.
How thick can expanded metal mesh be?
Up to 8 mm, at 28.26 kg per square metre. The lightest published specification is 0.73 kg per square metre.
What standards does your grating meet?
Steel to BS EN 10025 Grade S275 JR and ASTM A1011M as a minimum, welders approved to BS EN 287-1:2004 and AWS D1.1:2010, and hot dip galvanizing to BS EN ISO 1461:2009 and ASTM A123 where required.
Perforated or expanded for a machine guard?
Expanded, in most cases. It is one piece of metal with no welds to fail, it comes in much heavier gauges, and nothing is lost as punching slug.
