Galvanized Iron Wire
Two galvanizing routes, two gauge ranges, and a zinc coating figure you can actually specify against.
Almost every mesh failure is a coating decision made by somebody else.
Mesh is bought on aperture and fails on coating. The same product is offered here in four finishes with different costs and different service lives, and the choice belongs to the buyer who knows the site - not to whoever is quoting.
Indoor and dry, outdoor inland, coastal, immersed, or chemically aggressive.
Galvanizing before welding or weaving protects the parent wire; after welding or weaving also covers the weld nugget and the crossing points, which is where corrosion starts.
Electro galvanizing for a thin even coating on short-life and indoor work; hot dip for 40-300 g/m2 of zinc where the product stays outside.
A polymer skin over the zinc for coastal, immersed, decorative and agricultural duty, in a colour to specification.
Where no coating will survive - 304 for general service, 316 and the L grades for chlorides and post-weld fabrication.
State the process, whether it is applied before or after, and the coating weight in grams per square metre. The word galvanized on its own specifies nothing.

Two galvanizing routes, two gauge ranges, and a zinc coating figure you can actually specify against.

Eleven mesh sizes with the minimum zinc coating and the tolerance standard published against each one.

Rigid panel fencing that arrives straight, lines up on a 2440 mm post grid and stays rust-free after installation.

Nine export mesh sizes with the wire gauge band published against each one.

Forty-eight woven specifications with open area and weight published for every one of them.

Two tensile grades, one diameter range, and five ready-made forms.
The mesh, the grating, the screen and the tie wire on one packing list.
Mesh for buildings that stay damp and animals that test every joint.
Alloy, open area and coating chosen against the chemistry, not the catalogue price.
Boundaries and embankments for projects that are measured, inspected and signed off.
On hot-dip galvanized iron wire, 40 g/m2 to 300 g/m2. On hexagonal wire netting the published minimum galvanization runs from 30 to 145 g/m2 depending on mesh size, for hot dipped netting.
After, if the product will be wet or washed down, because it seals the crossing points. Before, if cost matters more and the product will be dry or indoors.
Coastal air, immersion, agricultural buildings and anywhere the mesh is visible. It is offered on fence panels, chain link, hexagonal netting, welded mesh and insect screen.
When the wire will be cast into concrete or used once - black iron wire and black annealed wire are uncoated and cheaper for that duty.
