What Steel Bar Grating Is and Who Buys It
Steel bar grating - also called steel metal grating and used for stair treads - is built from bearing bars and twisted square cross bars welded into a panel.
Bearing bars run from 20 mm to 100 mm deep and 2 mm to 10 mm thick, plain or serrated, at pitches from 25 mm to 50 mm.
Raw material is procured to BS EN 10025 Grade S275 JR and ASTM A1011M from ISO 9001 certified mills, welders are tested to BS EN 287-1:2004 and AWS D1.1:2010, and hot dip galvanizing follows BS EN ISO 1461:2009 and ASTM A123.

Problems It Solves
Most grating is sold without naming the steel standard. Here the steel is procured to BS EN 10025 Grade S275 JR and ASTM A1011M as a minimum.
Welder qualification is invisible on a delivery note. Anwang's welders are tested and approved to BS EN 287-1:2004 and AWS D1.1:2010.
Galvanizing thickness is where grating quietly fails. This product is hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461:2009 and ASTM A123 when required.

Flat bar cut to the ordered depth and thickness, plain or serrated.
Welding
Bearing bars and twisted square cross bars welded by welders tested to BS EN 287-1:2004 and AWS D1.1:2010.
Hot dip galvanizing
Applied where required, to BS EN ISO 1461:2009 and ASTM A123.
