Side Trimmer for Slitting Lines With 3-50 mm Trimmed Width
Where the coil edge is damaged or out of specification, the side trimmer takes 3 to 50 mm off each side so the strip comes back to a clean constant width. That range covers both light dressing and serious edge recovery on the same machine.
- Trimmed width 3-50 mm per side
- Double head cantilever rotary hybrid power shear
- Double edged blades with end face grinding
- Servo cylinder controlled width adjustment
Key Benefits
What the wide trim range gives you.
Light Dressing Or Full Recovery
A 3 to 50 mm range means the same machine removes a light edge defect or recovers a badly damaged coil edge.
Consistent Strip Width
Trimming keeps the strip at the same width along its length, which downstream processes depend on.
Edge Cracks Removed
Small edge defects such as cracks are cut away before the strip breaks in a follow up process.
Where It Is Used
Applications.
- Slitting lines in metallurgical plants
- Edge recovery on damaged coil
- Width correction before further processing
- Continuous production line trimming sections
Who It Is For
- Slitting line operators
- Service centres recovering damaged coil
- Plants standardising coil width
- Buyers needing a wide trim range on one machine
Problems It Solves
- Edge cracks and damage on incoming coil
- Width variation along the strip
- Limited trim range on existing equipment
- Slow, imprecise width adjustment
Technical Features
Machine features.
Two Blade Shearing
Two displacement and vertical circular blades work at a set gap and overlap, deforming the edge until it fractures.
Double Head Cantilever Structure
The rotary hybrid power shear arrangement trims both edges with matched blade condition.
Blade Service Design
Double edged blades with end face grinding and hydraulic nut locking allow fast change and regrinding.
Specifications
Blade and drive specification follow the material and gauge range.

Materials
- Machine frame with cantilever heads
- Alloy steel blade shafts
- Hardened circular blades
Manufacturing Process
Product Review
Material, gauge, incoming width and required trimmed width define the machine.
Head And Frame Manufacture
Heads and frame are machined for blade alignment across the trim range.
Blade Production
Blades are hardened and end face ground.
Assembly And Test
Gap, overlap and servo width control are set and tested.
Quality Control
- Head alignment inspection
- Blade hardness and grinding verification
- Gap and overlap setting record
- Width adjustment accuracy test
Customization Options
- Trim range to your product mix
- Blade specification per material
- Drive and line speed matching
- Scrap chute and chopper interface
Use Guide
- Set trimmed width from the actual edge condition, not a fixed value
- Regrind blades on the end face before edge quality drops
- Check hydraulic nut locking after blade changes
- Size scrap handling for the maximum trim width
How It Compares
Against narrower trimmers.
| Fixed trim width machines | 3 to 50 mm adjustment covers both light dressing and full edge recovery. |
|---|---|
| Manual width adjustment | Servo cylinder control repeats settings precisely between coils. |
| Trimming offline | In line trimming removes an extra handling and coiling step. |

How much can it trim from each edge?
From 3 mm up to 50 mm per side, adjusted through the servo controlled width system.
How does it cut?
Two displacement and vertical circular blades work at a set gap and overlap. The strip deforms at contact and fractures cleanly.
Why trim at all?
Rolling leaves small edge defects such as cracks. If they are not cut away, the strip can break in the follow up process.
How are blades maintained?
Blades are double edged with end face grinding and hydraulic nut locking, so they can be turned and reground.
Does it come with scrap handling?
Trimming and scrap chopping are usually supplied together so trimmed edges are chopped and collected continuously.
What do you need to quote?
Material, thickness and width range, required trimmed width range, line speed and layout.
