What The Part Does

The roll end bush is a wearable precision component mounted symmetrically on both sides of a tension leveler roll cassette. Its purpose is to limit axial displacement and shaking of the work rolls and intermediate rolls during high load operation.

By stabilising the operating state of the roll system it prevents the strip leveling defects that roll offset produces, which is how it protects both flatness consistency and surface quality on the finished strip.

The Standard Specification

The standard model is 38 by 100 mm with a black anti rust and anti corrosion protective coating, and the head embedded with high density ceramic beads for low friction operation.

It installs symmetrically on both sides of the cassette and supports integrated assembly with standard roll bearings, which is why matching the bearing seat correctly matters as much as the outside dimension.

Two Problems The Design Solves

Ordinary uncoated bushings corrode in the humid environment of a processing line, and corrosion at the bearing interface changes the fit long before anything looks worn.

Ordinary structural bushings also run steel against steel at the roll end, which galls. The embedded ceramic bead head gives a low friction contact surface instead, which is why the ceramic version lasts in high load positions.

When To Replace

Replace bushes during a cassette rebuild rather than separately, and treat axial play in the roll set as the signal that the existing ones are finished.

If a cassette has been running with worn bushes, inspect the roll ends and bearings at the same time. Axial movement rarely damages only one component.
