Lay the part on a plain sheet next to a steel rule, square to the camera, in even light. Take one image of the whole part and one close-up of any cast or stamped marking. A photograph taken at an angle cannot be measured.
Record The Machine
Brand, machine type and gauge. Working width if the part runs the full width. If the machine has front and rear assemblies, note which one the part came from.
