Machine Application

Warping And Yarn Preparation

A fault introduced at the creel is knitted into every metre that follows it. The parts in this application control how the yarn leaves the package, how evenly it is tensioned and how quickly the machine stops when an end breaks.

What Goes Wrong

  • Uneven creel tension turning into uneven loop length in the fabric.
  • A broken end running on because the stop motion did not trip.
  • Fluff carried onto the beam and knitted in.
  • Package holders that no longer let the package run free.

Tension Is Set At The Creel

Every end in the warp sheet has to arrive at the beam at the same tension. A yarn tensioner puts a controlled drag on a single end so that it does. If one tensioner is worn or set differently, that end runs slack, knits a longer loop and leaves a mark down the whole piece.

The original description for the yarn tensioner range states that it is used on warp knitting machines such as Karl Mayer and KFD knitting machines. A further listing covers tensioners for needle looms, ribbon looms, jacquard looms, high speed narrow fabric machines, crochet machines and warping machines.

Stopping The Machine In Time

Three stop devices are listed on this catalogue: the broken yarn stopping device, the self stopping device and the fluff detector. The first two stop the machine when an end fails. The fluff detector watches for fibre building up on the running yarn and stops the machine before that fluff is wound onto the beam.

Creels, Holders And Rollers

Creels are listed in electromotion and normal forms. Package holders are listed as turn table holders, swivelling package holders, plastic double-arm package holders and straight staff package holders. Rollers are listed as levelling rollers and servo-controlled rollers, and roller covering is listed separately.

Warping And Yarn Preparation FAQ

Which machines are the yarn tensioners for?

The original description names warp knitting machines such as Karl Mayer and KFD knitting machines.

What is the difference between the electromotion creel and the normal creel?

They are listed as two separate items. Send the warping machine brand and model and we will confirm which one suits.

Do you supply tensioners for looms as well as for warping?

Yes. One listing states supply for needle loom, ribbon loom, jacquard loom, high speed narrow fabric, crochet, warping, warp knitting and knitting machine parts.
