Almost every element on a warp knitting machine is gauge specific. Gauge is the first question on any enquiry, and getting it wrong is the most common reason a part arrives and does not fit.
How It Works Step By Step
Read The Gauge From The Machine
Gauge is needles per inch. It is usually on the machine plate. If it is not, count the needles across a measured inch on the needle bar and take the average over several inches.
Check It Against The Old Part
A trick plate slot pitch, a guide unit spacing and a sinker unit spacing are all the gauge expressed as a dimension. Measuring the old part is the cross-check on the plate.
Quote Gauge And Type Together
The same machine type is built across a range of gauges, so the machine type alone does not identify the element. Send both.
Confirm Before Production
The gauge is restated on the quotation. Check it there before approving.
The Gauge Range On This Catalogue

Gauge Is Not The Only Dimension
Gauge fixes the spacing. It does not fix the length, the thickness or the form. A separator pin needs a thickness, a hole count and a length as well as the gauge. A needle cover needs an overall length. A steel wire rope needs a length in centimetres. Each category page on this site lists what that category is selected by.
