Machine Application
Double Needle Bar And Terry Machines
Double needle bar machines knit two fabric faces at once and join them, which is how spacer fabric and plush structures are made. Everything on the machine exists twice, and the patterning is usually electrical.
What Goes Wrong
- Two needle bars to keep in matched condition instead of one.
- Piezo guide failures stopping a patterned run.
- A part that exists in a front and a rear version being ordered as one.
- Pile height drifting because element wear is uneven between the two bars.
Everything Exists Twice
On a double needle bar machine the element sets, the trick plates and the bars are duplicated. When one bar is rebuilt and the other is not, the two faces of the fabric are knitted to different loop lengths and the structure between them is uneven.
When ordering, state which bar the part came from. Where a part exists in a front and a rear version they are separate items even if they look alike.
Piezo Guides On RD6 And RD7
The original piezo guide description names double needle bar machines, RD6 and RD7 and terry towel warp knitting machines among the machines these guides are supplied for. Piezo guides are consumable electrical parts: the bender element fatigues, and a failed guide leaves a permanent line in the pattern.
The catalogue lists piezo guides by gauge from E12 to E32 and by type code such as 12B, 18L, 24D and 28B. Quote both the gauge and the type code from the old guide.
