What This Machine Does
TITAN assembled hopper bottom grain storage silo is made of high quality hot dip galvanized steel plate pressed into a wavy shape by special equipment, punched with standard connecting holes and joined with high strength bolts. Set on a concrete foundation, the cone empties the silo completely by gravity.
Key Benefits
- Complete gravity discharge through the cone with no residue in the silo
- Concrete foundation gives a stable base and clearance for discharge equipment
- Corrugated galvanized shell with the same protection as the flat bottom range
- High strength bolted assembly that ships flat and erects with local labour
- Batch storage without cross contamination between products
Problems It Solves
- Flat bottom residue that has to be swept or shovelled out
- Cross contamination between stored batches
- Discharge height too low for the handling equipment below
- Foundations designed without reference to the discharge method
Who It Is For
- Processing plants feeding a line from storage
- Seed and speciality crop handlers
- Mills holding working stock in batches
- Traders loading trucks on demand
Application Scenarios
- Grain and seed storage where batches change frequently
- Feeding a process line by gravity from under the silo
- Truck outloading directly beneath the cone
- Storage for materials that must not leave residue behind
Technical Features
- Hot dip galvanized plate pressed into corrugation by special equipment
- Standard connecting holes with high strength bolt assembly
- Cone and support structure designed to the concrete foundation drawing
- Sealed roof to sidewall connection with trapezoidal roof geometry
- Access ladder with roll formed sides, stamped rungs and guard rings
Cone Bottom Silo With Concrete Foundation Model Table
Figures below are taken from the TITAN model sheets. Where a figure depends on the crop or the contamination level it is stated that way rather than averaged.

How This Machine Is Built
Quality Control
- Zinc coating weight specified on the plate, not left as a general galvanized claim
- Connecting holes sealed with age resistant and waterproof daub belts of aviation grade
- High strength bolts used with round galvanized steel washers at every joint
- Roof to sidewall connection sealed to keep stored product away from moisture
- Erection supervised through the bolting sequence by TITAN engineers
Materials And Wear Parts
- Hot dip galvanized steel plate
- Structural galvanized steel S350GD
- High strength bolts with galvanized washers
Customisation Options
- Cone angle and height set by the discharge method
- Support structure designed for the concrete foundation
- Heat retaining layer for insulated storage
- Moisture and heat monitoring and control
Use Guide
- Fix the discharge height before the foundation is designed
- Check the anchor bolt layout against the support drawing
- Bolt shell rings in sequence with a continuous sealing belt
- Open the outlet fully during discharge
- Inspect the cone, outlet and support connections each season
How It Compares With The Alternatives
| Flat bottom silo with sweeper | No sweeper to run or maintain, and nothing left behind between batches. |
|---|---|
| Steel legs without concrete base | A concrete foundation carries the load and gives a durable working area underneath. |
Cone Bottom Silo With Concrete Foundation Questions
Why a concrete foundation rather than steel legs alone?
The concrete base carries the load, gives a hard standing underneath for discharge equipment or trucks, and keeps the support structure out of standing water.
How is the shell made?
High quality hot dip galvanized plate is pressed into a wavy shape by special equipment and punched with standard connecting holes, then bolted with high strength bolts.
When is a cement cone base used instead?
A cement cone base is applied under a flat bottom silo when capacity is large and the bin diameter is under 12 m. Above 12 m a half cone or flat base is used with a sweeper.
Can the silo be extended into a battery?
Yes. Cone bottom silos are installed in groups with shared access platforms and conveying.
What protects the bolt line from water?
Age resistant and waterproof daub belts at the connecting holes with galvanized steel washers under the bolts.
Is a sweeper needed?
No. The cone discharges the silo completely by gravity.
