The Belt and Road Initiative was raised for the first time by Chinese President Xi Jinping on 7 September 2013, as the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road. It holds the principle of working with other countries with peace, open for cooperation, harmonious and inclusive, market oriented, and for mutual benefit.
The Scale of It
By March 2019, China had signed 171 cooperation documents with 29 international organisations and 123 countries, including both developed and developing economies, and had built 56 economic and trade cooperation zones in more than 20 Belt and Road countries. The initiative opened new opportunities for the development of countries across the world, and opened a new world for China's own open development.
Why It Matters to a Tyre Buyer
According to WTO data in 2013, China had become the largest merchandise trader in the world and the biggest exporter of all kinds of merchandise. For a buyer, that is not a slogan. It means the manufacturing base, the port capacity and the shipping services behind your order are the deepest in the world, and it is the practical reason a mixed container of seven brands across three origin countries is possible at all.

In day to day terms that means we quote the same way to a first-time buyer of one container as to a customer of ten years, we tell you when we cannot do something, and we look for the relationship that produces a tenth order rather than the deal that produces the largest first one.

Do you export to countries you have not supplied before?
Yes. Tell us the destination and we will confirm what marking and documentation your import requires before quoting.
Does origin country affect my import?
It can, through duty treatment, market perception and lead time. We source from China, Thailand and Cambodia, so origin is something you can choose rather than accept.
Can you issue certificates of origin for a trade agreement?
All standard kinds of certificate of origin are available. Tell us the destination and the agreement you are importing under and we will issue the correct form.
How do you handle currency and payment?
Terms are agreed at the time of order. We only ever use our Bank of China Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone account, and any other account details sent in our name are fraudulent.
What is the smallest order you will take from a new market?
One container. If your requirement is smaller than that, tell us anyway, because it may fit alongside an order already being consolidated.
