Product Overview

One Catalogue That Covers Almost Every Cooling Duty

We offer all kinds of thermoelectric modules or Peltier coolers fulfilling different requirements, with product sizes from 10×10 mm to 80×120 mm and Qmax ranging from 1.6 W to 480 W. They are used in cooling and heating applications all over the world.

Standard thermoelectric modules are the most common modules used across applications. They work from −55 °C to +80 °C max constantly, and +100 °C maximum. We also offer +150 °C and +200 °C maximum Peltier modules, and most of our standard modules can be converted to high temperature modules. Ask us about your working temperature before you specify.

Modules are listed in the table below in order of Imax. Where a datasheet exists you can open the PDF directly from the part number row. Not every code has a published datasheet yet, so contact us for the ones that do not.

Key Benefits

Why Buyers Standardise On The TEC1 Series

Four things decide whether a Peltier module survives in a real product: temperature class, sealing, plating and test coverage.

300,000 Hour Design Life

An effective anti-copper element diffusion technology extends module life from the normal 200,000 hours to 300,000 hours and lets the module endure frequent forward and reverse pulse strikes.

Five Temperature Classes

Nickel and stannum electroplating plus patented soldering techniques let our modules work in normal, medium and high temperature ranges, performing at maximum 139, 183, 235, 320 and 500 °C.

Sealed Against Moisture

A vacuum anti-humidity process guards the module components against water and moisture penetration, which allows use in rigorous conditions. Silicone gel sealing is standard unless you specify otherwise.

Who It Is For

Engineers Who Specify This Series

  • Instrument builders cooling detectors, sample blocks and optics inside biomedical instruments
  • Consumer product teams building thermoelectric water coolers, wine cabinets and portable refrigerators
  • Industrial equipment makers stabilising temperature in electrical cabinets and process equipment
  • Laboratory and scientific instrument designers who need repeatable, vibration free temperature control
  • Contract manufacturers replacing a discontinued Peltier module with a dimensionally identical part

Problems It Solves

What This Module Solves

  • A compressor will not fit, is too heavy, or cannot be mounted in any orientation
  • The set point must be held below ambient without refrigerant or moving parts
  • The same device has to cool and, on demand, heat, by reversing the supply polarity
  • Vibration or acoustic noise from a fan and compressor is unacceptable near the sensor
  • Cooling capacity must scale down to a few watts, where mechanical refrigeration is not practical

Technical Features

Construction And Electrical Characteristics

Every value in the catalogue table is measured, not calculated, at a hot side temperature of 30 °C.

Alumina Ceramic Substrate

Two Al2O3 ceramic plates carry an array of P-type and N-type bismuth telluride pellets soldered to copper conductors.

Tight Mechanical Tolerances

Flatness ±0.05 mm, height tolerance ±0.2 mm, maximum compressive load 1 MPa.

Wide Electrical Window

Imax from 3.3 A to 100 A, Vmax from 0.82 V to 30 V, so the module can be matched to an existing supply.

ΔTmax 63 to 71 °C

Maximum temperature differential at Qc = 0 and Imax, measured with the hot side held at 30 °C.

Standard Lead-Out

150 mm lead wire as default. Other lengths, gauges and terminations are available on request.

RoHS Compliant

All EVERREDtronics thermoelectric modules are RoHS compliant and are supplied 100 % tested.

Quality Control

Every Module Is Tested Before It Leaves The Line

Quality control runs from raw material procurement through crystal growth, pellet selection and module assembly to the dispatch of the finished product. All products are 100 % tested and inspected using test equipment sourced from an American thermoelectric company.

Application Scenarios

Where TEC1 Modules Are Used

Typical applications for these standard TECs include biomedical instruments, consumer products such as thermoelectric water coolers and refrigerators, industrial equipment, electrical equipment, and laboratory and scientific instruments.

Use Guide

Selecting And Driving A TEC1 Module

  1. Fix the hot side first. Decide how the heat sink will hold Th, because every catalogue value assumes Th = 30 °C and performance falls as Th rises.
  2. Work out the real heat load Qc, including the load itself, conduction through the mount, and radiation and convection into the cold volume.
  3. Calculate the required ΔT = Th − Tc, then look for a module whose ΔTmax is comfortably above it. Never design at ΔTmax, where Qc is zero.
  4. Pick the footprint that fits the cold plate, then choose the code whose Qmax is roughly twice your Qc for a practical operating point.
  5. Match Vmax and Imax to your supply. Running near 0.6 to 0.7 of Imax is usually the best efficiency compromise.
  6. Apply a thin, even thermal interface layer on both faces, clamp evenly, and stay under the 1 MPa maximum compressive load.
  7. Seal the perimeter if the cold side can fall below the dew point, and specify the sealing option when you order.
How a thermoelectric module moves heat Direct current passes through alternating P-type and N-type bismuth telluride pellets between two ceramic plates. Heat is absorbed at the cold plate and released at the hot plate. Cold side — heat absorbed (Tc) Hot side — heat rejected to sink (Th) PNPNPNPN DC current
Direct current drives heat from the cold plate to the hot plate. Reverse the polarity and the module heats instead of cools.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About TEC Standard Peltier Modules

What is the difference between Qmax and the cooling I will actually get?

Qmax is the maximum heat pumping capacity in watts at Imax and ΔT = 0, which means the module is pumping heat with no temperature difference across it. As soon as you ask for a real ΔT, available cooling falls. A practical starting point is to choose a module whose Qmax is around twice the heat load you need to remove at your working ΔT.

What temperature can a standard module survive?

Standard thermoelectric modules work constantly from −55 °C to +80 °C, with +100 °C maximum. We also offer +150 °C and +200 °C maximum modules, and most standard modules can be converted to a high temperature build with a different solder class. Tell us the hot side temperature you expect and we will confirm the class.

Are the modules sealed?

Silicone gel sealing is applied by default. If you do not want the module sealed, say so when you order. Sealing matters whenever the cold face can drop below the dew point of the surrounding air.

How long will a module last?

Our anti-copper element diffusion technology extends module life from the normal 200,000 hours to 300,000 hours and allows the module to endure frequent forward and reverse pulse strikes. Real life depends on your mounting force, thermal cycling profile and how well the hot side is managed.

Can I get a datasheet for every part number?

Not every code has a published datasheet yet. Codes that do are linked from the table above. For any other code, message us on WhatsApp or by e-mail with the part number and we will send the data.

Do you supply modules in the size I need if it is not in the table?

Yes. We can provide standard modules and micro modules in more than one hundred different specifications and can produce modules to your own specification. Send the footprint, height, heat load and supply voltage and we will propose a build.

Send Us Your Heat Load And Delta-T

Tell us the heat you need to remove, the temperatures on each side and the space you have. We will come back with catalogue part numbers, or a custom build if the catalogue does not fit.
