Thermal Management Assemblies

A module is a component. An assembly is the exchanger, the interface, the control and the mechanical design around it. We configure four standard architectures from our own modules.

Four Ways To Get Heat Out

Every thermoelectric assembly does the same three things: couple the cold side to the load, couple the hot side to something that can absorb the heat, and control the current in between. What changes between the four architectures is the medium on each side.

The choice is nearly always made by the hot side. If the surrounding air can take the heat, an air hot side is simplest. If it cannot, the heat has to leave in a liquid or through the structure itself.

Assemblies are configured per project from our TEC1, TEA1 and TES1 catalogue rather than sold as fixed items, so capacity and dimensions are confirmed at quotation.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Assemblies

Do you sell assemblies from a catalogue?

No. Assemblies are configured per project around modules from our own catalogue, because the exchangers and the control have to match your heat load, ambient range and enclosure. A catalogue capacity figure would not tell you what you would actually get.

Which configuration is most efficient?

Whichever gives the hot side the coolest, most stable baseline. That is usually a liquid hot side if a loop exists, and a well ventilated air hot side if it does not.

Can an assembly heat as well as cool?

Yes, by reversing module polarity. Outdoor telecom and industrial cabinets commonly need both.

What maintenance do assemblies need?

The thermoelectric modules have no moving parts. Fans and pumps are the wear items, and exchanger surfaces need to stay clear. Plate to plate assemblies have neither.

What do you need from me to quote?

Heat load in watts, the temperature to hold, ambient range, enclosure or loop details, supply voltage, space envelope and any ingress protection requirement.

Describe The Installation

Tell us what is inside the enclosure, how hot the outside gets and what supply you have. We will tell you which architecture fits and configure it around our own modules.
