Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-90
Cumyl hydroperoxide DKS L-90 is the high content grade, supplied at 88±1% with 9.14-9.46% actual active oxygen. It is the same initiator chemistry as the L-80 grade with more oxygen per kilogram, which matters when the initiator charge is a cost line rather than a rounding error. Produced at the Dakings Jinshan base.
What You Get With This Grade
- Active oxygen of 9.14-9.46%, roughly nine tenths of the theoretical 10.51% of the pure product
- Chroma below 200 Pt-Co, tighter than the 300 Pt-Co of the L-80 grade
- SADT of 70 °C with a 65 °C alarm temperature, five degrees of headroom above the L-80 grade
- Same three packing units as L-80 so a plant can switch grade without changing handling equipment
Technical features
- Insoluble in water, easily soluble in alcohols ketones and hydrocarbons
- Decomposition products are methane, acetophenone and 2-phenylisopropanol
- pH value 6.0-8.0
- Density 1.05-1.06 g/cm³ at 20 °C, slightly denser than the L-80 grade
Where Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-90 Is Used
High throughput styrene lines
The higher active oxygen reduces the mass of initiator that has to be metered for the same radical flux.
Butadiene copolymerisation
Initiates copolymerisation reactions in synthetic rubber production.
Colour sensitive polymer grades
Chroma below 200 Pt-Co keeps initiator colour contribution lower than the 80% grade.
Plastics and synthetic fibre feedstock
Polymerisation of olefins into materials where chain length control depends on a consistent initiator.
How Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-90 Looks and Ships

Buyers This Grade Is Built For
- Polymer plants where initiator consumption is a tracked cost per tonne
- Producers of colour sensitive resins who need the tighter chroma limit
- Buyers already running DKS L-80 who want a higher content option from the same producer
- EHS teams that require a documented SADT and alarm temperature per grade
What It Stops Going Wrong
- Buying a nominal 90% peroxide without an active oxygen band means the real charge is unknown
- Initiator colour carried into a clear or pale resin shows up as an off-specification finished product
- Grade changes between suppliers force a change of drum handling equipment
- Storage rules written for one peroxide grade do not transfer to another without the SADT figure

How It Ships and How to Store It
Packing
- 25 kg net HDPE drum
- 200 kg net HDPE bucket
- 1000 kg net IBC
- Other packing can be arranged according to user requirements
Storage and transport
- Avoid high temperatures and open flames
- Can form explosive mixtures with reducing agents, accelerators, sulphur and phosphorus
- Store in a dedicated cool dry ventilated warehouse between -30 °C and 40 °C
- Keep away from heat sources and open flames and do not mix with other foreign objects
- Handle with care when loading and unloading
How the Lot Is Released
Content, active oxygen, chroma, density, viscosity and pH are verified against the quality index before release, with SDS and COA issued per lot.
What We Can Change
Packing can be arranged according to user requirements, using the same HDPE drum, bucket and IBC range as the L-80 grade.
Against the Alternatives
L-90 carries 88±1% content and 9.14-9.46% active oxygen against L-80's 80-85% and 8.41-8.94%. Its SADT is 70 °C against 65 °C and its ten hour half-life temperature is 140 °C against 145 °C. Chroma is tighter at below 200 Pt-Co. Choose L-90 for oxygen per kilogram and colour, L-80 for the longer half-life at temperature.
Handling Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-90 on Your Site
Written for the person who receives the drum, not for a brochure.
- Recalculate the initiator charge when switching from L-80, since active oxygen is roughly 8% higher
- Store between -30 °C and 40 °C in a dedicated cool dry ventilated warehouse
- Keep separate from reducing agents, accelerators, sulphur and phosphorus
- Set the warehouse alarm with reference to the 65 °C alarm temperature and 70 °C SADT
- Include methane, acetophenone and 2-phenylisopropanol in the decomposition planning
Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-90 FAQ
What content is DKS L-90 supplied at?
88±1% content with actual reactive oxygen of 9.14-9.46%.
How does its stability compare with DKS L-80?
L-90 has a higher SADT at 70 °C against 65 °C, with an alarm temperature of 65 °C against 60 °C. Its ten hour half-life temperature is slightly lower at 140 °C against 145 °C.
What is the chroma limit?
Below 200 Pt-Co, compared with below 300 Pt-Co for the L-80 grade.
What are the decomposition products?
Methane, acetophenone and 2-phenylisopropanol, the same as the L-80 grade.
Can we get both grades in one shipment?
Yes. Both are made at our Jinshan base and can be loaded together where the dangerous goods classification allows it.
Is the packing the same as L-80?
Yes — 25 kg HDPE drum, 200 kg HDPE bucket and 1000 kg IBC, with other packing to your requirement.
