Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-80
Cumyl hydroperoxide DKS L-80 is the 80-85% content grade of the initiator used to start olefin polymerisation and copolymerisation. It is a colourless to light yellow transparent liquid, insoluble in water and easily soluble in alcohols, ketones and hydrocarbons. Dakings produces it at the Jinshan base in Zibo, so the active oxygen figure on your certificate is measured in the quality control system of the company that made it.
What You Get With This Grade
- Actual active oxygen of 8.41-8.94% against a pure theoretical 10.51%, quoted as a measured band
- Self-accelerating decomposition temperature of 65 °C with a 60 °C alarm temperature, so your storage rules can be written before the drum lands
- Ten hour half-life temperature of 145 °C, the highest of our three peroxide grades
- Three packing units — 25 kg HDPE drum, 200 kg HDPE bucket and 1000 kg IBC — sized to batch weigh-up or to bulk dosing
Technical features
- Insoluble in water, easily soluble in alcohols ketones and hydrocarbons
- Decomposition products are methane, acetophenone and 2-phenylisopropanol
- pH value 6.0-8.0
- Produced at the Dakings Jinshan base in Linzi District, Zibo
Where Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-80 Is Used
Styrene polymerisation
Used as the initiator that opens the double bonds of styrene monomer so the chains can form.
Butadiene copolymerisation
Initiates copolymerisation of butadiene with other olefins in synthetic rubber production.
Plastics and synthetic fibre production
Polymerisation of unsaturated hydrocarbons into the plastics and fibres that carry the finished properties.
Onward peroxide chemistry
Held as the feedstock grade where a lower content and a higher half-life temperature are preferred to the 88% grade.
How Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-80 Looks and Ships

Buyers This Grade Is Built For
- Polymer producers running styrene or butadiene polymerisation lines
- Synthetic rubber plants that need a documented initiator for their process safety file
- Compounders whose EHS team requires the SADT and alarm temperature before material is accepted
- Buyers who prefer the more forgiving storage profile of the 80% grade over the 88% grade
What It Stops Going Wrong
- Initiator with an undocumented active oxygen band gives a polymerisation that starts at different rates between lots
- Peroxide received without an SADT figure cannot be assigned a storage class on arrival
- Traders who cannot name the decomposition products leave your emergency plan incomplete
- Drum sizes that do not match the batch weigh-up force decanting, which is the riskiest thing a peroxide store does

How It Ships and How to Store It
Packing
- 25 kg net HDPE drum
- 200 kg net HDPE bucket
- 1000 kg net IBC
- Other packing can be arranged according to user requirements
Storage and transport
- Avoid high temperatures and open flames
- Can form explosive mixtures with reducing agents, accelerators, sulphur and phosphorus — never store these together
- Store in a dedicated warehouse that is cool dry and ventilated, with temperature controlled between -30 °C and 40 °C
- Keep away from heat sources and open flames and do not mix with other foreign objects
- Handle with care when loading and unloading and keep away from heat sources
How the Lot Is Released
Content, active oxygen, chroma, density, viscosity and pH are checked against the published quality index before release, and SDS and COA are issued for the lot.
What We Can Change
Packing can be arranged according to user requirements. Tell us the drum or tote standard your peroxide store is built around and we will confirm what we can fill.
Against the Alternatives
Against DKS L-90, the L-80 grade runs lower in content and active oxygen but carries a higher ten hour half-life temperature of 145 °C versus 140 °C and a lower SADT of 65 °C versus 70 °C. Against dicumyl peroxide, which is a white crystalline solid used for vulcanising and crosslinking, cumyl hydroperoxide is a liquid initiator for polymerisation.
Handling Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-80 on Your Site
Written for the person who receives the drum, not for a brochure.
- Confirm the active oxygen band on the COA before dosing, since the initiator charge is calculated from it
- Keep the material between -30 °C and 40 °C in a dedicated cool dry ventilated store
- Never store or transport alongside reducing agents, accelerators, sulphur or phosphorus
- Plan for decomposition products of methane, acetophenone and 2-phenylisopropanol in the emergency response file
- Handle drums with care during loading and unloading and keep them away from heat sources
Cumyl Hydroperoxide DKS L-80 FAQ
