Injection Moulds For IT And Communications
Enclosures, covers and moulded detail parts for IT and communications hardware
What Makes IT And Communications Parts Difficult
Product cycles are short, so a tool that arrives late has already lost part of its value
Enclosures carry vents, connector cut outs and light pipes, which means slides and inserts in a small tool
Flame retardant grades are abrasive and shorten the life of a soft cavity
What Buyers In This Sector Need
- A realistic tool lead time given at quotation and not revised twice
- Insert construction so that a connector change does not mean a new tool
- Cavity steel matched to the grade actually being moulded

Typical Application Scenarios
A hardware maker needing an enclosure tool where the connector window is a replaceable insert
A communications equipment supplier moving an existing enclosure to a new mould source
How A Project Runs
Design review
Part geometry, wall sections, draft and gate position are reviewed against the moulding material before any steel is cut.
Steel inspection
Cavity and core blocks are checked on arrival so that the hardness and grade match what the mould was quoted with.
In-process measurement
Machined inserts, slides and plates are measured between operations rather than only at the end of the tool room route.
Fitting and spotting
Parting line, slide movement and ejection are fitted by hand before the mould goes to the press.

IT And Communications Questions
What buyers in this sector ask before placing tooling work.
Can connector openings be made as changeable inserts?
Yes, and it is usually worth it. The opening sits in its own insert that can be replaced when the connector changes, instead of welding and recutting the cavity or building a second tool.
Do flame retardant grades change the steel choice?
They can. Filled and flame retardant grades are abrasive, so a pre-hardened steel that is fine for plain ABS may wear at the gate and the shut offs. Tell us the exact grade at enquiry and the steel gets quoted against it.
Tooling For IT And Communications
Send the part, the moulding grade and the volume. We will name the cavity steel and the impression count in the quotation rather than after the order.
