What This Stage Covers
The plant runs injection machines below 600 tons, so a mould built in the tool room can go straight into production of finished parts. Buyers who want parts rather than tooling stop at this stage.
Stage By Stage
Material and colour
The problem. A colour matched at the masterbatch supplier can still drift once it is run in the actual grade at the actual temperature.
How we handle it. Colour is approved on parts moulded from your grade in this tool, not on a chip.
Process setting
The problem. A setting sheet that lives in an operator's head disappears with the operator.
How we handle it. The approved setting is recorded against the mould number so that the next run starts from the same place.
Production run
The problem. Parts drift over a long run and nobody notices until the container is packed.
How we handle it. Parts are checked during the run against the same dimensions used at first article, not only at the start and the end.
Secondary operations
The problem. Degating, assembly and packing handled by whoever is free produce inconsistent parts.
How we handle it. Where a part needs degating or sub assembly it is defined as a step with its own check rather than left to the moulding operator.
Mould maintenance
The problem. A tool that is only cleaned when it fails loses its finish and then its cavity.
How we handle it. Tools are cleaned and the condition noted at the end of each run, so wear is caught before it reaches the part.

Yes, provided the tool arrives with its drawings and a spare component set. We check it in the press first and report what we find before committing to a cycle time.
