Impact Crusher Blow Bar
Manganese, chrome, ceramic-insert and TIC-insert bars for horizontal shaft impactors
What This Casting Does And Why It Matters
Blow bar selection is the single biggest lever on impactor running cost, and it is a genuine trade-off: manganese survives tramp metal but wears fast on abrasive rock, chrome lasts far longer but can break. PangLei casts the whole range in one foundry — Mn13 to Mn22Cr3, 20% and 26% chromium, Cr26 and martensitic bodies with ceramic inserts, and manganese with TIC inserts — so the recommendation is not limited by what we happen to pour.
Technical Features
- High manganese Mn13 to Mn22Cr3 for feed carrying tramp steel
- Medium 20% and high 26% chromium for clean abrasive rock
- Cr26 with ceramic inserts and martensitic with ceramic inserts
- Manganese with TIC inserts
- Patterns held for Terex, Extec, Metso NP and Hazemag models

How This Casting Is Made
Pattern Making
Once drawings are confirmed, pattern making starts immediately in our own pattern shop. Thousands of finished patterns are already on the shelf, so repeat parts skip this step entirely.
Sandbox Making
Casting Process Simulation System (CPSS) is run before the moulds are made. The cavity is kept as solid and as clean as possible so that inclusions have nowhere to start.
Melting And Pouring
Charge materials are bought to a high standard and temperature is controlled through the whole pour to achieve a fine grain structure. Samples are taken to verify the analysis and adjusted if needed, then kept for at least three years for traceability.
Sandbox Opening
Also called casting cleaning. After initial cooling the box is opened, risers and runners are removed and the casting is cleaned. Cooling time is set by casting size, not by the clock.
Heat Treatment
Heating temperature is strictly controlled and castings are spaced in the furnace so they heat uniformly and meet the water fully. Quenching begins within 30 seconds of withdrawal from the oven.
Machining
After rectifying and polishing, castings are machined strictly to drawing for correct fitment. QC then carries out dimensional inspection and issues the dimensional inspection report.
Inspection
Our own physical and chemical laboratory covers spectrometry, hardness, microstructure, dye penetrant and dimensional inspection on site rather than at a third party.
Packing And Delivery
Finished parts are packed on steel pallets for forklift handling, to international standards for road, rail, sea and air transport.
Inspection Supplied With This Part
Chemical analysis and a dimensional inspection report are standard on every order. The remaining procedures are carried out in our own physical and chemical laboratory when specified at order stage.

How This Part Compares With The Alternatives
| Compared With | What Changes |
|---|---|
| Manganese versus 26% chromium | Manganese deforms rather than shatters, so it is the safe choice where tramp steel can enter. On clean abrasive rock 26% chromium lasts considerably longer. |
| Ceramic insert bars | Cr26 or martensitic bodies with ceramic inserts sit between the two — much higher abrasion resistance than plain chrome, for duties where breakage risk is controlled. |
| Manganese with TIC inserts | Keeps the toughness of a manganese body while adding hard inserts at the wear face, for mixed feed that is both abrasive and dirty. |
If Your Part Is Not Standard
With our own pattern shop, a 3D scanner and Casting Process Simulation System, we work from your drawing, your worn sample, or a scan taken on your site. Material grade, profile and machining are all specified against your machine rather than against a catalogue.
- Reverse engineering from a worn part, with no drawing required
- On-site 3D scanning where the component cannot be removed
- Material grade selected against your feed rather than a default
- Pattern retained afterwards, so repeat orders skip pattern making
Fitting And Getting The Life Out Of It
- Change bars as a complete set, never individually
- Confirm the rotor pocket and fixing dimensions before ordering
- Turn bars end for end at the mid-point of life where the design allows
- Check rotor balance after fitting
- Record the tonnage per set so grade choice can be refined

How To Choose Blow Bar Material For An Impact Crusher
Manganese, 20% chrome, 26% chrome, ceramic inserts or TIC — a decision that comes down to one question about your feed.

Lead time on a wear part is mostly pattern time and scheduling. Both can be removed, and the difference is measured in days rather than weeks.
Read Guide →Impact Crusher Blow Bar Questions
Which blow bar material should I run?
If tramp steel or rebar can reach the rotor, run manganese. On clean abrasive rock with no tramp metal, 26% chromium gives much longer life. Ceramic and TIC insert bars sit between the two.
Are bars supplied as balanced sets?
Yes. Bars for one rotor are cast from the same heat and supplied together so weights are consistent.
Can you make a bar for a model not on your list?
Yes. Send the worn bar or drawing, or we 3D scan it, and the pattern shop reproduces the fixing and profile.
Do you supply break plates too?
Yes. Break plates and side liners are cast for most makes and models of HSI crusher.
