About These Notes

Who are these notes written for?
The person who has to specify the job: the design engineer writing the drawing, the production engineer who needs the fixture, and the buyer putting a request for quotation together.
Do the notes describe your own process?
They describe general engineering practice for fixtures, jigs, materials and quotations. Where a figure would be specific to this workshop it is left out, because the business never published capacity or tolerance data.
Can I get advice on a specific part?
Yes. Email the drawing with a sentence about what the part does. Advice on which dimensions are actually functional usually takes more cost out than any other conversation.

Send the print with a note about what the part does. Tolerances that are doing no work are the usual place cost is hiding.
