Questions About Aluminium Alloy

Which aluminium alloy do you machine?
Alloy is specified on the drawing. Tell us the duty, and if the print carries an alloy that is hard to source, an equivalent can be discussed rather than silently substituted.
Should I anodise?
Anodise for wear resistance, corrosion resistance or colour. Allow for the thickness it adds on any surface that is part of a fit, and say so on the drawing.
Aluminium or stainless for a fixture?
Aluminium if the fixture is handled or moved. Stainless if it is washed down or takes heavy clamping loads. Many fixtures use both, with steel only where the wear is.

Not Sure Which Material The Job Needs

Describe what the part touches, what it has to carry and who has to lift it. Those three answers usually pick the material on their own.
