Product Overview

The protection current transformer is used to reduce the currents in power systems, producing proportional currents in the unit's secondary windings that remain isolated from the main circuit. The replica current is then used as an input to a protective relay, which can then automatically isolate part of the power circuit should it experience a fault.

What is the difference between a measuring and a protection current transformer?

A measuring core is built to be accurate around rated current and to saturate quickly above it, which protects the connected instrument. A protection core is built to stay linear well past rated current so the relay sees the fault. They are not interchangeable.

Which protection class does PSDH cover?

Send the relay type, the required accuracy limit factor and the burden and an engineer will confirm the class available on the frame you need.
