Product Overview
The protection current transformer is used to reduce the currents in power systems, producing proportional currents in the unit's secondary windings that remain isolated from the main circuit. The replica current is then used as an input to a protective relay, which can then automatically isolate part of the power circuit should it experience a fault.

What does 5P20 mean?
5 is the composite error in percent, P means protection, and 20 is the accuracy limit factor. So a 5P20 core holds its composite error within 5 % at twenty times rated primary current, which is what lets the relay measure a fault correctly.
When do I need 10P instead of 5P?
10P allows 10 % composite error and is normally acceptable for simple overcurrent protection. 5P is specified where the relay characteristic is more demanding, for example differential or distance schemes.
