Industry Application

Essential Oil and Aromatherapy

Steam distillation plants from 10L to 50L for growers, distillers and aromatherapy brands.

Industry Pain Points

  • Oil quality that varies with the operator rather than the recipe
  • Distillation rooms too small for a fixed still
  • Short harvest windows and not enough batch capacity
  • Delicate floral notes lost to overheating

What Buyers Need

  • A still sized to the crop, not to a catalogue
  • Indirect heating that does not scorch the bed
  • A single-operator layout
  • The option of vacuum for heat-sensitive material

Solution Flow

How a project in this sector is taken from raw material to running equipment.

1

Material preparation

Wilting, cutting and charging the pot at the right bulk density.

2

Steam distillation

Indirect thermal oil heating brings the pot to 100°C under atmospheric conditions.

3

Condensing

Vapour is condensed through a condenser sized against the pot volume.

4

Separation

Oil and hydrosol are separated and decanted.

Delivery Capability

Machines from 0.5L to 200L, with larger capacity customised on request. A supercritical CO2 machine generally takes about 60 workdays to produce.

Packing And Shipping

Plywood case. The machine is assembled and tested before packing, so what ships has already been run.

Installation And Support

Installation service and engineer training on site, with online video guidance from engineers afterwards.

FAQ

Questions From Essential Oil Buyers

Which botanicals suit steam distillation?
Flowers, plants, citrus, leaves, wood, resin and spice material: rose, lavender, ylang ylang, chamomile, neroli, geranium, rosemary, citronella, lemongrass, lemon, orange, bergamot, grapefruit, lime, eucalyptus, mugwort, patchouli, peppermint, pine needle, sandalwood, agarwood, cedarwood, wintergreen, frankincense, myrrh, cinnamon, pepper, fennel and ginger.
What size distillation plant should we start with?
The standard range runs from a 10L plant occupying about 1.5 square metres up to a 50L plant with 11kW of heating. The pot volume is also built according to the demand of the customer.
Can a vacuum pump be added?
Yes. With a vacuum pump the extraction speed of the essential oil is faster, which helps with heat-sensitive material.

Send the raw material and the capacity you need per batch and the right line will be proposed with the process parameters behind it.

Send two things and a real specification comes back: the raw material you will process, and the production capacity you need per batch.
