Laboratory Equipment

Rotary Evaporator

Rotary evaporators for solvent recovery and gentle concentration under vacuum.

A rotary evaporator recovers solvent by spreading the liquid as a thin film over the inside of a rotating flask under vacuum. The large surface area and the reduced pressure let the solvent boil off well below its atmospheric boiling point, so the concentrate is never overheated and the recovered solvent can be reused.

Laboratory distillation and refining equipment built by Better Industry

Who This Equipment Is For

  • Extraction laboratories recovering ethanol from miscella
  • R&D teams concentrating an extract before analysis
  • Pilot lines producing small batches of crude
  • Quality control laboratories preparing samples

Problems It Solves

  • Solvent lost to the atmosphere instead of being recovered
  • Heat damage to the concentrate during evaporation
  • Slow evaporation from a still, unstirred vessel
  • No repeatable way to reduce a batch to a fixed volume

Key Benefits

Vacuum evaporation

Solvent boils off below its atmospheric boiling point, which protects the extract.

Thin film surface

Rotation spreads the liquid so evaporation is fast and even.

Solvent recovered

The condensed solvent is collected for reuse instead of being vented.

Bench to pilot

Sized for laboratory work and small pilot batches.

Specifications For This Line Are Quoted Per Project

Rotary evaporators are quoted by flask volume, bath type and condenser duty. Tell us the batch size and the solvent and a specification will be prepared.

Rather than publishing a model that would not match your process, the specification is written after two questions are answered: what raw material you will process, and what production capacity you need per batch. Machines are built from 0.5L to 200L, and larger capacity is customised on request.

FAQ

Questions About Rotary Evaporator

What size rotary evaporator do I need?
It depends on the batch volume you want to reduce and the solvent you are recovering. Send both and a specification will be prepared.
Do you also build the reactor and the distiller?
Yes. Jacketed glass reactors and short path distillers are built in the same laboratory equipment factory.
