Laboratory Equipment
Short Path Distiller
Short path distillation units for separating and refining extract under deep vacuum.
Short path distillation separates an extract into fractions by boiling point under deep vacuum. The distance between the evaporating surface and the condenser is only a few centimetres, so vapour reaches the condenser almost immediately and the material spends very little time at temperature. That short residence time is what allows heavy, heat-sensitive compounds to be distilled without breaking them down.
Who This Equipment Is For
- Processors refining winterized crude into a distillate
- Laboratories separating an extract into defined fractions
- Pilot plants proving a refining recipe before scaling up
- R&D groups working with heat-sensitive high boiling compounds
Problems It Solves
- Heat-sensitive compounds degrading during conventional distillation
- Poor separation between the target fraction and the tails
- Feed still carrying wax because it was never winterized
- No controlled way to reproduce a refining run
Key Benefits
Short residence time
Only a few centimetres between evaporator and condenser, so the material is barely held at temperature.
Deep vacuum
Boiling points drop far below atmospheric values, which protects the product.
Fraction control
Heads, main fraction and tails can be taken off separately.
Part of a chain
Fits directly after extraction and winterization in a complete refining line.
Specifications For This Line Are Quoted Per Project
Short path distillation units are quoted by evaporation area, feed rate and vacuum level. Send your feed material and target throughput for a specification.
Rather than publishing a model that would not match your process, the specification is written after two questions are answered: what raw material you will process, and what production capacity you need per batch. Machines are built from 0.5L to 200L, and larger capacity is customised on request.
