One stop for CBD solution is the way Better Industry describes this line. Rather than buying an extractor from one supplier, a winterization skid from another and a distillation unit from a third, the whole chain is engineered together so the output of each stage is the correct feed for the next.

From Requirement To Delivery

Each stage in the order it happens, so you can see where your decisions are needed and where ours are.

1 Biomass preparation Milling and moisture control so the bed extracts evenly.
2 Extraction Supercritical CO2 for a solvent-free crude, or low temperature ethanol at -75°C where daily throughput matters more.
3 Winterization The crude is chilled, held and filtered to drop out waxes and lipids, and the ethanol is recovered.
4 Solvent recovery Rotary evaporation returns the ethanol to the process instead of losing it.
5 Short path distillation Deep vacuum and a short vapour path separate the fractions with minimal residence time at temperature.
6 Quality control Laboratory equipment supports checks between the stages rather than only at the end.

Questions About This Solution

Should we extract with CO2 or with cold ethanol?
CO2 gives a crude with no residual solvent and no purge step. Cold ethanol at -75°C suits higher biomass volumes and leaves much of the wax and chlorophyll behind in the material. Send your throughput target and both can be costed.
Is winterization needed after CO2 extraction?
Crude that still carries waxes and lipids has to be dewaxed before short path distillation, whichever extraction route produced it.
Can the line be delivered in stages?
Yes. The chain can be built up stage by stage, provided the sizing of each stage is agreed at the start.
