Solvent extraction covers the classic tank route: the botanical is soaked in a solvent that dissolves the target actives, the miscella is drained, and the solvent is recovered by evaporation. Two variants are built for this line. Ultrasonic assisted extraction adds ultrasound to break down cell walls, which raises yield and shortens contact time at moderate temperature. High temperature extraction drives the same process faster where the target compounds tolerate heat. Counter flow extraction runs material and solvent in opposite directions so that the most exhausted material meets the freshest solvent.
