Encrypting Pin Pads and Secure Metal Keypads
Hardware encrypting keypads for unattended payment and access points where the PIN must never leave the device in the clear.
KEYU's EPP range handles PIN encryption, MAC calculation and data encryption and decryption on a dedicated security chip rather than in host software. Encryption covers MAC, DES with 3DES and AES, with PIN lengths of 4 to 12 bits and key lengths of 8, 16 or 24 bits. A non encryption model is also supported, and all units keep the stainless steel button set with water and vandal proof construction.

View SpecificationProblems This Range Solves
- Passing a PIN through host software widens the audit surface of an unattended terminal.
- Payment and non payment variants of the same machine usually need two different pads.
- Secure pads are often supplied in one fixed size that does not fit the fascia.
- Function key positions differ between operators and software builds.
Who Specifies It
- ATM and cash machine manufacturers sourcing the entry keypad.
- Kiosk builders adding card payment to an existing terminal.
- Access control integrators securing entry points with a coded pad.
- Payment terminal OEMs needing a metal pad rather than a plastic one.
Where It Is Installed
- A 145*100 mm front panel EPP fitted into an ATM fascia.
- An 87.5*91.5 mm front panel pad for a compact payment kiosk.
- A 16 key encrypting pad on an access entry point.
- A pad ordered in non encryption mode for a machine that does not take payment.
- A USB connected encrypting keypad on a self service terminal.
What You Get From This Range
- Hardware encryption model on an advanced security chip, with a non encryption model also supported.
- PIN encryption, MAC calculation and data encryption and decryption in the device.
- Encryption support for MAC, DES with 3DES and AES.
- Password length 4 to 12 bit with key length of 8, 16 or 24 bit.
- Support for 2*4 function keys.
- Stainless steel buttons with water and vandal proof design, customised free of charge.
What To Specify When You Order
Give us these and the quotation comes back complete rather than with questions attached.
- State whether the unit ships in encryption or non encryption mode.
- Confirm which algorithms your host expects from MAC, DES with 3DES and AES.
- Give the PIN length between 4 and 12 bits and the key length of 8, 16 or 24 bits.
- Check the front panel and overall size against the fascia, as these differ between models.
- Specify the positions of the 2*4 function keys against your software layout.

Where does encryption happen
In the device. The hardware encryption model uses a dedicated security chip to perform PIN encryption, MAC calculation and data encryption and decryption.
Which algorithms are supported
MAC, DES including 3DES, and AES.
What PIN and key lengths are supported
Password length of 4 to 12 bit and key length of 8, 16 or 24 bit.
Can the pad be supplied without encryption
Yes. A non encryption model is supported for machines that do not require secure PIN entry.
How many function keys are available
The range supports 2*4 function keys, known as FDKs.
