Waterproof and Outdoor Input Devices for Exposed Installations
Equipment installed outdoors or on a wash-down line fails at the interface long before it fails at the controller, because a standard keyboard admits water, dust and the occasional deliberate blow.
What This Covers
- Stainless steel housings including SUS304 and 316L for corrosive and wash-down positions
- Sealed constructions available to IP65, IP66 and IP67, with IK07 impact approval on the range
- Integrated pointing devices including trackball, touchpad, joystick and FSR built into the same sealed front panel
- Customer-specific front panels, country layout variants and configurable connection options
- Desktop, embedded and panel-mounted formats for kiosks, terminals and control cabinets
- Silicone key surfaces that resist spills and clean down without trapping dirt
Who This Is For
- Outdoor kiosk, vending and self-service terminal manufacturers
- Industrial control and automation builders working in humid hot or chemically aggressive plants
- Coal mining oil and gas operators specifying rugged operator interfaces
- Public access equipment owners facing high-frequency use and deliberate damage
Stage By Stage
Each stage lists the problem it exists to prevent and how we handle it.
Enquiry and Site Conditions
A sealing rating requested in isolation tells us nothing about whether the real threat is hose-down water, abrasive dust, salt air, chemical splash or impact from the public.
We open with questions about the installation itself: indoor or open air, the direction water arrives from, cleaning regime, ambient exposure and whether the unit sits where the public can reach it. Those answers decide whether dust-tight protection against water jets is enough or whether a higher-sealed construction is the right target.
Requirement Review and Material Selection
Specifying the wrong housing material puts a corroding part into a marine or chemical position and the failure looks like a sealing fault when it is a metallurgy fault.
Housing material is selected against the environment rather than by default. Stainless steel grades including SUS304 and 316L give rugged corrosion-resistant enclosures for industrial control, outdoor equipment, coal and mining, oil and gas and public access positions, while silicone key surfaces resist spills and clean easily. We say which grade suits your exposure and why.
Design and Drawing
A well-sealed keyboard defeated by an unsealed panel joint or a cable gland leaks anyway, and the argument about whose part failed wastes weeks.
We design the front panel, mounting solution and connection route together, because sealing is a property of the installed assembly and not of the keyboard alone. Customer-specific front panels, country layout variants, connection options and integrated trackball, touchpad, joystick or FSR pointing devices are drawn into the same package and issued for your approval.
Tooling and Moulds
Sealed enclosures with folded returns and precise cut-outs are sensitive to forming accuracy, and small tooling errors become leak paths.
Enclosure forming runs on our own CNC and sheet-metal equipment, drawing on over one thousand sets of moulds held in the Shenzhen factory. Keeping forming and assembly under one roof means a dimensional correction that affects sealing is made by the people who own the tool.
Sampling and Approval
Nobody wants to discover that a keypad cannot be operated in gloves after a hundred units are installed on a site.
Samples are produced and tested, then sent for you to fit in the real enclosure and try under real handling, including gloved operation and your cleaning routine. Change requests are worked through with repeat sample production until you confirm the unit.
Mass Production
Sealing quality that depends on individual assembly skill produces a batch where some units leak and nobody can predict which.
Production runs against the confirmed sample with the sealed construction and housing specification fixed, so the second batch is assembled the same way as the first rather than rebuilt from the drawing by a different hand.
Quality Control and Ingress Testing
An ingress claim with no evidence behind it is worthless at a customer audit or a site acceptance test.
Our range is built against CE, RoHS, FCC, EMC, IP65, IP66 and IP67, IK07 and BIS approvals, with sheet-metal processing under an ISO 9001:2015 system, and the test-report board covering our products includes ISO 9001, IP67, RoHS, CE, SGS and FCC. Ask during requirement review which of these apply to the configuration you are specifying.
Packing Shipping and After Sales
Field replacement of an outdoor unit years later is expensive if the original build is no longer reproducible.
Drawings, tooling records and the approved sample are retained so a replacement matches the installed unit rather than approximating it. We supply customers across Europe, North and South America, Southeast Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and technical queries reach us on +86-755-26068009.
