What This Machine Does
The TGP1200 is a hydraulic bench for pressing valve guides out of and into cylinder heads, and for assembling and disassembling engine valves on the same station. Guides are an interference fit, and driving them with a hammer is how heads get cracked and guides get bent. The bench uses a hydraulic cylinder working at up to 200 bar, adjustable from 0, so the operator sets the pressure the job needs and applies it steadily. The working table is 1200 mm long with 1100 mm of transverse and 150 mm of longitudinal movement, and rotates through 50 degrees so an angled guide bore can be presented square to the ram. Upper cylinder movement is 230 mm and lower cylinder movement is 140 mm. Motor power is 1.5 kW on a 380V 50Hz three-phase supply, and the machine measures 1370 x 930 x 1850 mm at 400 kg. Standard equipment includes dismounting pilots, a set of installation tools and compressing feet in different sizes.
Why Buyers Choose This Machine
- Hydraulic pressing at up to 200 bar replaces hammer work so guides go in straight and heads are not cracked
- Pressure adjustable from 0 to 200 bar so the force matches the guide and head material
- Table rotates through 50 degrees to bring angled guide bores square to the ram
- 1200 mm table with 1100 mm transverse movement covers long cylinder heads without re-clamping
- Same bench handles valve assembly and disassembly so head work stays on one station
- Standard tool set includes dismounting pilots installation tools and several sizes of compressing foot
- Reduces operator fatigue and the costly errors that come from forcing guides by hand
Where Hydraulic Valve Guide Press Machine TGP1200 Earns Its Place
Problems It Solves
- Driving guides with a hammer bends them and cracks the head casting
- Hand pressing gives a different installed depth on every guide
- Angled guide bores cannot be pressed square on a fixed flat bench
- Valve assembly and disassembly needs a second station if the press bench cannot do it
- Repetitive hand pressing tires the operator and errors follow
- Long cylinder heads have to be re-clamped several times on a short bench
Who It Is For
- Cylinder head reconditioning shops
- Engine rebuilders doing guide replacement in-house
- Truck bus and plant workshops overhauling their own heads
- Distributors equipping head reconditioning lines in export markets
Application Scenarios
- Pressing worn valve guides out of a cylinder head
- Installing new guides to a set depth with controlled hydraulic force
- Assembling and disassembling valves valve springs and retainers on a head
- Guide replacement on angled guide bores using the 50 degree table rotation
- Guide work on long cylinder heads within the 1200 mm table length

How It Is Built and What Can Be Changed
Operations Performed
- Guide pressing
- Guide removal
- Valve assembly and disassembly
Quality Control
- Hydraulic circuit pressure tested across the 0 to 200 bar adjustment range
- Upper and lower cylinder travel checked over the full 230 mm and 140 mm strokes
- Table rotation checked through the 50 degree range and locked position verified
- Standard tool set counted and fitted before packing
- Machine run through a full press cycle before shipment
Customisation Options
- Dismounting pilots specified for the guide diameters you work with
- Compressing feet set chosen for the valve and retainer sizes in your engines
- Supply voltage and frequency set for your market if you are not on 380V 50Hz three-phase
- Additional installation tooling quoted for particular head types
- Manual and control labelling prepared in your working language
How It Compares With the Alternatives
| Hammer and drift guide replacement | Hand driving bends guides and cracks castings; the TGP1200 applies controlled hydraulic force up to 200 bar in a square setup |
|---|---|
| Universal workstation TWS1100 | The workstation is built around clamping and valve assembly with pneumatic control; the TGP1200 adds the hydraulic press capacity needed to move interference-fit guides |
| A general workshop hydraulic press | A general press has no head fixturing or 50 degree table rotation, so angled guide bores cannot be brought square to the ram |
Running the Machine
Step 1
Mount the cylinder head on the table and clamp it
Step 2
Rotate the table within the 50 degree range until the guide bore is square to the ram
Step 3
Fit the dismounting pilot for the guide size and set the pressure on the adjustable control
Step 4
Press the old guide out using the upper or lower cylinder as the head orientation requires
Step 5
Clean the guide bore and check it before fitting the new guide
Step 6
Fit the installation tool and press the new guide to the required depth
Step 7
Use the compressing feet to assemble the valve spring and retainer on the same bench
