Band saw or cold saw?
Band saws handle larger section and are cheaper to run per cut. Cold saws give a cleaner, squarer cut face on smaller section, which matters if the cut face goes straight into a weld or an assembly.
What is the advantage of a double column band saw?
The blade is guided on both sides, so it stays square through a deep cut. Single column machines tend to drift as the section gets bigger.
Can the saw run unattended?
