What This Machine Does
The C0632D is a manual gap-bed lathe with a braked spindle, sized for repair and light production turning. It swings 330mm over the bed, 198mm over the cross slide and 476mm in the gap, with 210mm of gap length and 1000mm between centres at a 166mm centre height. The spindle bore is 38mm or 40mm depending on build, with a D1-4 or D1-5 camlock nose and a No.5 Morse taper, and eight speeds cover 70 to 2000 r/min. Where this machine earns its place is threading breadth: 42 imperial pitches from 4 to 112 T.P.I., 44 metric pitches from 0.1 to 7mm, 25 diametral pitches from 16 to 112 DP and 34 module pitches from 0.1 to 1.75 MP, all selected through the feed box. That covers repair threads in any of the four systems a general shop meets without regearing. Cross slide travel is 170mm, compound rest travel 95mm, the lead screw is 8 T.P.I. or 3mm pitch, the feed rod is 19mm and the tool post takes a 16mm by 16mm section tool.
Why Buyers Choose This Machine
- Four thread systems on one feed box covering 42 imperial 44 metric 25 diametral and 34 module pitches
- Gap swing of 476mm over 210mm of gap length lets flange and pulley faces be machined on a mid-size lathe
- 38mm or 40mm spindle bore passes bar stock instead of holding it on an overhang
- D1-4 or D1-5 camlock nose changes chucks quickly and seats them repeatably
- Spindle brake stops rotation fast when threading up to a shoulder or changing setups
- Eight speeds from 70 to 2000 r/min cover roughing at 330mm swing and finishing at small diameters
- 16mm by 16mm tool section supports the depth of cut a 330mm swing machine can actually take
Where C0632D Lathe Brake Manual Machine Earns Its Place
Problems It Solves
- Module and diametral pitch threads usually mean special change gears; here they are on the feed box chart
- A lathe without a gap cannot face a 476mm flange without the work going outside
- A spindle that coasts is slow and risky when threading into a shoulder, so the machine has a brake
- Small spindle bores force long bar to be held on an unsupported overhang
- Threaded spindle noses are slow to change and can loosen under braking
- Undersized tool sections deflect and chatter when roughing at full swing
Who It Is For
- General engineering shops that see threads in more than one measuring system
- Plant maintenance departments repairing lead screws shafts and spindles
- Machine shops turning flanges pulleys and brake-type components
- Exporters and dealers supplying mixed-work repair shops
- Training workshops teaching threading across metric and imperial practice
Application Scenarios
- Repair threading on studs spindles and lead screws in imperial metric module or DP systems
- Turning shafts up to 1000mm between centres at 166mm centre height
- Facing and boring flanges and pulleys up to 476mm in the gap
- Bar work fed through the 38mm or 40mm spindle bore
- Boring housings and bushes held in a camlock-mounted four-jaw chuck
- Light batch turning in a subcontract or plant maintenance shop

How It Is Built and What Can Be Changed
Operations Performed
- Turning
- Facing
- Boring
- Thread cutting
- Taper turning
- Parting
Quality Control
- Bed and gap piece alignment checked with the gap fitted and removed
- Camlock nose seating and spindle run-out measured before assembly is released
- All eight spindle speeds checked against the plate across 70-2000 r/min
- Feed box exercised through imperial metric DP and module thread positions
- Test thread cut and measured before the machine is packed
Customisation Options
- Spindle bore specified as 38mm or 40mm and nose as D1-4 or D1-5 with the order
- Lead screw supplied in 8 T.P.I. or 3mm pitch to match your usual thread system
- Supply voltage frequency and phase built to your market
- Chuck steady rest and tool post package selected with the order
- Manual and machine plates in your working language
How It Compares With the Alternatives
| Lathe with imperial and metric threading only | The C0632D also covers 25 diametral and 34 module pitches, which is what gear and worm repair work needs |
|---|---|
| Lathe without a spindle brake | The brake stops the spindle quickly at the end of a threading pass instead of letting it coast into the shoulder |
| Bench Lathe Machine CZ1237 | The CZ1237 is a smaller bench machine at 305mm swing; the C0632D gives 330mm swing 476mm in the gap and a much wider thread chart |
| Cutting threads with dies | Dies only reproduce standard sizes; the feed box cuts any of the 145 listed pitches to the depth and length the repair needs |
Running the Machine
Step 1
Level the lathe and confirm the gap piece is seated and bolted before normal turning
Step 2
Fit the chuck to the D1-4 or D1-5 camlock nose and lock each cam to its mark
Step 3
Set one of the eight speeds from the 70-2000 r/min range for the diameter and material
Step 4
Select the thread system and pitch on the feed box chart before engaging the lead screw
Step 5
Check the first thread with a gauge or mating part before cutting a batch
Step 6
Use the brake to stop the spindle at the end of each threading pass
Step 7
Clean the ways lead screw and feed rod and oil them at the end of the shift
