Overview

What This Machine Does

The C0630A is a general-purpose engine lathe for shops that take in whatever turning arrives that week. Its bed ways are precision ground and then supersonic frequency hardened, and the spindle is carried on precision roller bearings, so the machine holds its geometry rather than settling into a worn track under the chuck. Headstock gears are ground and hardened steel and the spindle covers 70 to 2000RPM, which is a wide enough band to rough a steel shaft at the bottom and finish small non-ferrous work at the top. The feed box is sealed against swarf and coolant and carries both the feed rates and the thread cutting positions, so changing from a facing feed to a thread pitch is a lever move rather than a gear-train rebuild. The machine ships with the accessories that make it useful on day one: a 160mm three-jaw chuck, a 200mm four-jaw chuck, a 300mm face plate, a four-way tool post, manual tailstock, steady rest and follow rest, plus lubrication, coolant and a foot brake.

Key Benefits

Why Buyers Choose This Machine

  • Spindle range of 70-2000RPM covers roughing steel and finishing small non-ferrous parts on one machine
  • Precision ground and supersonic frequency hardened bed ways resist the wear that creates taper on long shafts
  • Sealed feed box keeps swarf and coolant out of the gears that set feed and thread pitch
  • Three-jaw four-jaw and face plate supplied together so round irregular and flat work can all be held
  • Steady rest and follow rest included for long slender shafts that would otherwise deflect away from the tool
  • Foot brake stops the spindle quickly between setups and at the end of a threading pass
  • Lubrication and coolant systems fitted as standard rather than added later
Application

Where Engine Lathe Machine C0630A Earns Its Place

Problems It Solves

  • A narrow speed range forces either burnt tools in small diameters or slow roughing in large ones
  • Open feed boxes pack with swarf and the feed selection becomes stiff and unreliable
  • Buying a lathe without workholding means the machine sits idle until chucks arrive
  • Round-only workholding cannot take castings and off-centre parts that need a four-jaw or face plate
  • Long shafts chatter and taper without a steady or follow rest
  • Coasting spindles waste time and are unsafe when threading up to a shoulder

Who It Is For

  • Maintenance workshops that make their own replacement parts
  • Subcontract machine shops handling mixed low-volume turning
  • Vehicle plant and agricultural repair businesses
  • Toolrooms needing a dependable manual lathe alongside CNC machines
  • Distributors equipping general engineering shops in export markets

Application Scenarios

  • General repair turning of shafts pins and bushes in a maintenance shop
  • Holding irregular castings and forgings in the 200mm four-jaw for boring
  • Face plate work on flat and off-centre components
  • Cutting replacement threads on studs spindles and adjusting screws
  • Long slender shaft turning supported by the steady or follow rest
  • Small batch production of turned parts in a subcontract shop

Manufacturing and Supply

How It Is Built and What Can Be Changed

Operations Performed

  • Turning
  • Facing
  • Boring
  • Thread cutting
  • Taper turning
  • Parting
  • Drilling from the tailstock

Quality Control

  • Bed way hardness and straightness checked after grinding and frequency hardening
  • Spindle run-out and bearing preload set and measured on assembly
  • Spindle speeds verified across the 70-2000RPM range
  • Feed box run through every feed and thread position before the covers are closed
  • Test cut and thread sample taken with the supplied chuck before packing

Customisation Options

  • Supply voltage frequency and phase built to your market
  • Chuck and face plate sizes adjusted from the standard 160mm 200mm and 300mm set on request
  • Quick change tool post fitted in place of the four-way post
  • Manual and machine plates in your working language
  • Sea or air export packing as required
Comparison

How It Compares With the Alternatives

Bench Lathe Machine CZ1237The CZ1237 is a bench machine for small shaft and sleeve work; the C0630A is an engine lathe with a wider 70-2000RPM range and a full workholding set
Lathe supplied without accessoriesThe C0630A arrives with three-jaw four-jaw face plate steady rest and follow rest, so it is working the day it is uncrated
Lathe with an open feed boxThe sealed feed box keeps swarf and coolant out of the feed and threading gears, which is what keeps lever selection reliable in a dirty shop
Turning by hand tooling or a drill pressNeither can hold concentricity or cut a controlled thread pitch on a shaft; the lathe does both from one setup
Use Guide

Running the Machine

Step 1

Level the machine and check the bed for twist before the first cut

Step 2

Choose the three-jaw for round stock the four-jaw for castings and the face plate for flat or off-centre work

Step 3

Set the spindle speed within the 70-2000RPM range to suit diameter and material

Step 4

Select the feed rate or thread pitch on the sealed feed box before engaging the lead screw

Step 5

Fit the steady rest or follow rest when the shaft is long and slender

Step 6

Check coolant flow and lubrication before starting a long cut

Step 7

Use the foot brake to stop the spindle when threading to a shoulder

Can it cut both metric and imperial threads?

The feed box carries multiple feeds and thread cutting functions. Send us the thread pitches you need to cut and we will confirm the chart supplied with your machine.

What is the difference between C0630A and C0632A?

They are the same series with different capacity. Tell us the largest diameter and length you turn and we will confirm which model covers it.

What voltage will the machine be supplied at?

We build to the voltage frequency and phase you state on the order, so send your supply details with the enquiry.

How is the machine packed and shipped?
