What This Machine Does
The BS-1018R cuts round and section stock up to 10 inches, that is 254mm, with the saw bow able to swivel from 0 to 45 degrees so mitre work is done without moving the part to another machine. What separates it from a gravity-fed bow saw is that both the vertical force on the blade and the falling speed of the bow are controlled by a hydraulic cylinder. The blade is therefore fed at a rate the operator sets rather than dropping under its own weight, which is what stops tooth stripping when the bow breaks into a section and what makes cut time predictable. Drive is by belt with four cutting speeds, and the structure is built heavy for cutting at the top of its capacity. An electric coolant system extends blade life and improves workpiece accuracy. A sizing device stops the machine automatically once the cut is finished, and a power break protection device cuts power when the rear protective cover is opened. Machine weight is 360 kg.
Why Buyers Choose This Machine
- Cuts to 10 inches or 254mm so it covers heavy round and section stock in a fabrication shop
- Saw bow swivels 0 to 45 degrees for mitre cuts without a second machine or setup
- Vertical blade force controlled through a hydraulic cylinder instead of falling under bow weight
- Bow falling speed also hydraulically controlled so the blade does not snatch entering a section
- Four belt-driven cutting speeds to match the material being cut
- Electric coolant system extends blade life and improves workpiece accuracy
- Sizing device stops the machine automatically once the cut is complete
- Power break protection cuts power when the rear protective cover is opened
Where BS1018R 10 Inch Industrial Hydraulic Metal Band Earns Its Place
Problems It Solves
- A gravity-fed bow drops onto the work and strips teeth when it breaks into a section
- Uncontrolled feed makes cut time unpredictable and blade life inconsistent
- Mitre cuts get transferred to a second machine or done by hand
- An operator has to watch a saw that does not stop itself at the end of the cut
- Dry cutting burns blades and leaves a poor finish on the cut face
- An unguarded drive cover on a running saw is a real hazard on a busy shop floor
Who It Is For
- Fabrication and structural steel workshops
- Machine shops preparing billets up to 254mm
- Pipe and tube fabricators needing angled cuts
- Maintenance departments cutting replacement stock
- Distributors supplying hydraulic bow band saws to industrial workshops
Application Scenarios
- Cutting heavy bar and pipe to length in a fabrication shop
- 45 degree mitre cutting for welded frames and structures
- Preparing billets up to 254mm for machining
- Stockholder cutting of customer lengths from mill bar
- Cutting to a set size with the sizing device for repeat batches
- Maintenance workshop cutting where the operator cannot stand by the machine

- Coolant type and supply arrangement specified with the machine
- Manual and machine markings prepared in your working language
How It Compares With the Alternatives
| Gravity feed bow band saw | A gravity saw lets the bow drop under its own weight; the BS-1018R controls both vertical force and falling speed hydraulically, which is what protects the blade teeth and makes cut time repeatable |
|---|---|
| BS912B and BS1018B in the same family | Those are the lighter models in the range; the BS-1018R adds hydraulic force control a sizing device and the power break protection cover |
| XAIMC double column band saws such as the G4250 | The double column machines take much larger sections in a fixed configuration; the BS-1018R is the compact swivelling-bow machine at 360 kg |
| Abrasive cut-off saw | Abrasive cutting burns the end face and consumes discs; the band saw gives a clean face and its coolant system keeps the blade cutting for a long service life |
Running the Machine
Step 1
Clamp the material using the quick clamping arrangement and support long stock behind the machine
Step 2
Swivel the bow between 0 and 45 degrees if you are cutting a mitre
Step 3
Select the cutting speed from the four available to suit the material
Step 4
Set the sizing device for the length if you are cutting a repeat batch
Step 5
Set the hydraulic cylinder so the bow descends at a controlled rate on entry
Step 6
Check the electric coolant system is reaching the blade before starting
Step 7
Let the sizing device stop the machine and clear swarf before loading the next piece

Questions About BS1018R 10 Inch Industrial Hydraulic Metal B
What is the biggest section it will cut?
10 inches, that is 254mm. Tell us the largest section on your stock list and we will confirm the machine covers it.
Can it cut at an angle?
Yes. The saw bow swivels from 0 to 45 degrees, so mitre cuts for frames and pipe work are done on the same machine.
Why does hydraulic feed matter?
Both the vertical force on the blade and the falling speed of the bow are controlled through a hydraulic cylinder. The blade is fed at the rate you set rather than dropping under bow weight, which is what stops tooth stripping on entry and makes cut times repeatable.
Does it stop itself at the end of a cut?
Yes. The sizing device stops the machine automatically after the material is sawn, so an operator is not tied to the machine through the cut.
How heavy is it for shipping?
360 kg. We supply crated dimensions and gross weight at order stage so your forwarder can book the space.
Can it be supplied for our voltage?
Yes. Give us your voltage phase and frequency at enquiry and the machine is wired for your market.
What are your payment and trade terms?
FOB CFR and CIF. Payment is 30 percent by T/T on order and 70 percent before shipment, or an irrevocable L/C at sight.
