Cone Crusher Rim Liner
Protects the bowl rim above the concave from feed washing
What This Casting Does And Why It Matters
The rim liner protects the upper edge of the bowl where feed enters the chamber. It is the part that stops feed from eroding the bowl casting itself, and like the burning ring it is a cheap part guarding an expensive one. We cast rim liners in manganese to match the concave set and supply them with cone liner orders.
Technical Features
- Austenitic manganese steel to the same grades as the liner range
- Profile and fixing reproduced from the original part
- Solution treated and water quenched
- Supplied on the liner pallet

What You Get That You Would Not Get Elsewhere
Protects the bowl casting from feed erosion at the chamber entry
Matched to the concave set so wear rates align
Cast from the same heat as the liner set when ordered together
Inexpensive insurance against bowl repair
The Failures This Part Is Cast To Prevent
- Erosion of the bowl casting at the feed entry
- Rim liners left in place long after they have worn through
- Cone spares that are hard to source separately from liners
- Bowl repairs that could have been avoided for a fraction of the cost
Who It Is For
- Cone crusher operators
- Crusher rebuild workshops
- Dealers supplying cone spare packages
- Plants running high tonnage through one chamber
Application Scenarios
- Scheduled liner replacement
- Bowl refurbishment
- Preventive spares holding
- Contract crushing fleets

How This Casting Is Made
Pattern Making
Once drawings are confirmed, pattern making starts immediately in our own pattern shop. Thousands of finished patterns are already on the shelf, so repeat parts skip this step entirely.
Sandbox Making
Casting Process Simulation System (CPSS) is run before the moulds are made. The cavity is kept as solid and as clean as possible so that inclusions have nowhere to start.
Melting And Pouring
Charge materials are bought to a high standard and temperature is controlled through the whole pour to achieve a fine grain structure. Samples are taken to verify the analysis and adjusted if needed, then kept for at least three years for traceability.
Sandbox Opening
Also called casting cleaning. After initial cooling the box is opened, risers and runners are removed and the casting is cleaned. Cooling time is set by casting size, not by the clock.
Heat Treatment
Heating temperature is strictly controlled and castings are spaced in the furnace so they heat uniformly and meet the water fully. Quenching begins within 30 seconds of withdrawal from the oven.
Machining
After rectifying and polishing, castings are machined strictly to drawing for correct fitment. QC then carries out dimensional inspection and issues the dimensional inspection report.
Inspection
Our own physical and chemical laboratory covers spectrometry, hardness, microstructure, dye penetrant and dimensional inspection on site rather than at a third party.
Packing And Delivery
Finished parts are packed on steel pallets for forklift handling, to international standards for road, rail, sea and air transport.
Inspection Supplied With This Part
Chemical analysis and a dimensional inspection report are standard on every order. The remaining procedures are carried out in our own physical and chemical laboratory when specified at order stage.

How This Part Compares With The Alternatives
| Compared With | What Changes |
|---|---|
| Leaving a worn rim liner in place | The bowl casting then takes the wear, and a bowl repair costs many times a rim liner. |
| Sourcing rim liners from a different supplier | Cast with the concave set, the parts wear at the same rate and are replaced on the same shutdown. |
| Hard facing the bowl rim directly | A replaceable cast liner is designed to be consumed; weld repair of the bowl itself is a short-term fix. |
If Your Part Is Not Standard
With our own pattern shop, a 3D scanner and Casting Process Simulation System, we work from your drawing, your worn sample, or a scan taken on your site. Material grade, profile and machining are all specified against your machine rather than against a catalogue.
- Reverse engineering from a worn part, with no drawing required
- On-site 3D scanning where the component cannot be removed
- Material grade selected against your feed rather than a default
- Pattern retained afterwards, so repeat orders skip pattern making
Fitting And Getting The Life Out Of It
- Replace at each concave change
- Inspect the bowl rim surface while the liner is off
- Confirm fixing holes against the bowl before fitting
- Order with the liner set to avoid a second shutdown

Is a rim liner fitted on every cone crusher?
No. It depends on the machine and the bowl design. Send us the crusher model and we will confirm whether one applies.
What material do you use?
The same austenitic manganese grades as the liner range so that wear rates align.
Can it be supplied on its own?
Yes, although most customers order it with the concave and mantle.
Do you hold patterns for rim liners?
We hold patterns for the cone models listed on the category page, and can build new ones from your sample.
