Cone Crusher Mantle
The moving cone face, cast to gyrate against your existing bowl liner
What This Casting Does And Why It Matters
The mantle is the wear surface on the gyrating head of a cone crusher and works as a pair with the bowl liner. Get the pairing wrong and the chamber either packs or passes oversize. PangLei casts mantles in the full high manganese range, including the extra fine, fine and medium profiles used on Metso GP and HP machines and Sandvik CH and CS chambers, and machines the head bore so the mantle pulls down tight without rocking.
Technical Features
- Extra fine, fine, medium and coarse profiles reproduced from the original part
- Cast in Mn13 through Mn22Cr3 including Mn18Cr2 and Mn22Cr2
- Solution treated and water quenched for a fully austenitic structure
- Dye penetrant and ultrasonic inspection available on request
- Packed on steel pallets for forklift handling

What You Get That You Would Not Get Elsewhere
Cast as a matched pair with the bowl liner when both are ordered together
Head bore machined so the mantle seats without shimming
Higher manganese grades available where the feed work hardens the surface slowly
Same heat, same chemistry across a set, documented on the inspection report
The Failures This Part Is Cast To Prevent
- Mantles that rock on the head and crack the backing
- Mismatched mantle and bowl liner profiles producing off-spec product
- Premature flattening of the crushing face on hard abrasive feed
- Single sourcing a wear pair from two different foundries
Who It Is For
- Aggregate plants running closed circuit cones
- Mining operations crushing hard ore
- Rental and mobile plant fleets
- Distributors supplying complete liner sets
Application Scenarios
- Secondary and tertiary cone crushing
- Manufactured aggregate production
- Ore reduction ahead of milling
- Mobile cone crushing on contract sites

How This Casting Is Made
Pattern Making
Once drawings are confirmed, pattern making starts immediately in our own pattern shop. Thousands of finished patterns are already on the shelf, so repeat parts skip this step entirely.
Sandbox Making
Casting Process Simulation System (CPSS) is run before the moulds are made. The cavity is kept as solid and as clean as possible so that inclusions have nowhere to start.
Melting And Pouring
Charge materials are bought to a high standard and temperature is controlled through the whole pour to achieve a fine grain structure. Samples are taken to verify the analysis and adjusted if needed, then kept for at least three years for traceability.
Sandbox Opening
Also called casting cleaning. After initial cooling the box is opened, risers and runners are removed and the casting is cleaned. Cooling time is set by casting size, not by the clock.
Heat Treatment
Heating temperature is strictly controlled and castings are spaced in the furnace so they heat uniformly and meet the water fully. Quenching begins within 30 seconds of withdrawal from the oven.
Machining
After rectifying and polishing, castings are machined strictly to drawing for correct fitment. QC then carries out dimensional inspection and issues the dimensional inspection report.
Inspection
Our own physical and chemical laboratory covers spectrometry, hardness, microstructure, dye penetrant and dimensional inspection on site rather than at a third party.
Packing And Delivery
Finished parts are packed on steel pallets for forklift handling, to international standards for road, rail, sea and air transport.

How This Part Compares With The Alternatives
| Compared With | What Changes |
|---|---|
| Buying mantle and bowl liner separately | A set cast from one heat in one foundry wears at the same rate, so the chamber holds its setting until both parts are due together. |
| A general purpose Mn13 mantle | Mn18Cr2 and Mn22Cr2 work harden further before deforming, which on abrasive feed is the difference between one change-out and two. |
| Refurbishing a worn mantle | Weld overlay changes the profile and the metallurgy of the surface. A new casting returns the chamber to the geometry the crusher was designed around. |
If Your Part Is Not Standard
With our own pattern shop, a 3D scanner and Casting Process Simulation System, we work from your drawing, your worn sample, or a scan taken on your site. Material grade, profile and machining are all specified against your machine rather than against a catalogue.
- Reverse engineering from a worn part, with no drawing required
- On-site 3D scanning where the component cannot be removed
- Material grade selected against your feed rather than a default
- Pattern retained afterwards, so repeat orders skip pattern making
Fitting And Getting The Life Out Of It
- Confirm the mantle profile matches the bowl liner already fitted
- Clean the head and check for old backing material before fitting
- Fit the mantle nut or clamping ring to the specified torque
- Run in at reduced feed for the first period to allow the surface to work harden
- Change the mantle and bowl liner as a pair wherever possible

Do I need to change the bowl liner at the same time?
Usually yes. A new mantle against a worn bowl liner changes the chamber profile and both parts then wear unevenly. Ordering as a set is cheaper over the life of the chamber.
Can you supply a mantle for a Symons type crusher?
Yes. We hold patterns for 3FT, 4FT, 4¼FT, 5½FT and 7FT standard head and short head chambers.
Is the mantle supplied with the locking nut?
The mantle is the casting. Nuts, burning rings and other cone spares are quoted alongside it; tell us what you need with the enquiry.
What hardness will the mantle be as delivered?
Austenitic manganese steel is delivered soft and work hardens in service. The delivered hardness value is recorded on the inspection report when hardness testing is specified.
