Product Overview
Everything above the pit depends on what is under it. A steel beam in a slurry pit rusts from the underside where nobody looks, and a concrete beam spalls where reinforcement corrodes. A pultruded FRP T-beam has no metal to corrode and no coating to fail, which is why it has become the standard support in new pig houses.
The T range runs from a 100 × 5 × 25 mm section up to 200 × 5 × 44 mm, with a second series carrying a reinforcing rib in sections from T80 to T165 for longer spans and heavier loads. Beams are cut to the span of your room.

Why Buyers Specify This Product
No corrosion in the pit atmosphere
Glass fibre in a resin matrix is unaffected by ammonia, slurry and washdown chemistry, so the support outlives the floor above it.
Light enough to place by hand
A two-person team can carry and set an FRP beam that would need lifting gear in concrete.
Cut on site with ordinary tools
Beams are trimmed with a standard abrasive blade, so a span that does not divide evenly is not a problem.
A section for the span
T100 and T120 for normal pen spans, T200 and the reinforced-rib series where the beam has to carry further or take cast iron.

Materials and Manufacturing
Pultruded glass-fibre reinforced composite. The FRP T-Beam Support is pultruded: continuous glass fibre is drawn through a resin bath and then through a heated die that cures the laminate into its final section. Because the fibre runs unbroken along the length of the beam, the strength is in the direction the load is carried, and there is no metal anywhere in the section to corrode.

Installing and Running It
Step 1
Set out beam centres from the slat code — a 600 × 400 mm panel needs support at 400 mm.
Step 2
Bed the beam ends on a level bearing; FRP does not tolerate a point load on an unsupported corner.
Step 3
Cut with an abrasive blade and cap the cut end to keep the laminate sealed.
Step 4
Check the beam line for level before the first slat goes down — correcting it afterwards means lifting the floor.

Will an FRP beam carry a cast-iron slat?
Tell us the panel weight and the span and we will confirm the section. Cast iron is heavier than plastic and usually needs a larger T section or a reduced span.
How long can the beams be?
Beams are cut to the span you give us. Lengths under 3 m are bundled 10 to a pack and longer beams 6 to a pack.
Do the beams need painting or coating?
No. The resin matrix is the corrosion protection, and there is no metal inside to protect.
What is the difference between the two T series?
The first series is the plain T section. The second carries a reinforcing rib, which is what you use for longer spans or heavier floors.
