Product Overview
An I-profile puts material where bending stress is highest — in the two flanges — so for a given weight it spans further than a T of the same depth. In a grow-finish room where beam rows cost money to build, that difference removes support lines from the pit.
The I-beam is pultruded from the same glass-fibre and resin system as the rest of the JGM FRP range, so it shares the corrosion behaviour, the cutting method and the end-cap fittings.

Materials and Manufacturing
Pultruded glass-fibre reinforced composite. The FRP I-Beam Support is pultruded: continuous glass fibre is drawn through a resin bath and then through a heated die that cures the laminate into its final section. Because the fibre runs unbroken along the length of the beam, the strength is in the direction the load is carried, and there is no metal anywhere in the section to corrode.

Installing and Running It
Step 1
Send the clear span, the slat type and the animal stage so the section can be sized rather than guessed.
Step 2
Set both bearing ends fully supported — an I-section does not like a point load on one flange.
Step 3
Cut with an abrasive blade and seal the cut end with a cap.
Step 4
Level the whole beam line before the first panel is laid.

Which I-section do I need?
That depends on the clear span, the slat weight and the animal stage. Send those three numbers and our engineers will confirm the section — until then this page marks the size TBC rather than quoting one.
Is an I-beam stronger than a T-beam?
For the same depth and weight it spans further in bending, which is why it is used for wide pens. For short spans the T section is usually the more economical choice.
Can it carry cast-iron slats?
Often yes, but only against a calculated span. Tell us the panel weight with your enquiry.
How is it packed for export?
Bundled — 10 pieces per bundle under 3 m and 6 per bundle over 3 m, then palletised for the container.
